Tang Shifu @ KSL Mall

Another over-due updates on my food blog. I think this is at least one month old. But I am quite happy to have dine over at this place. So let me share this with my readers here. The place I am referring to is Tang Shifu. This particular branch I went to is located at KSL Mall, JB. Yup, this is on one of my company sponsored makan trip again. It's closed to 9pm if I am not mistaken when we decided to walk in this place. I  saw this place before in the Klang Valley but felt like their food are over-priced and all. So I didn't have the chance to give it a try. I guess now is the best time to try it out then.

We are served with some appetizer once we are seated. Menu was handed to us to browsed through. Actually the food isn't that much expensive once you think about it. I saw their one of their premium item called Mixed Seafood (which consists of abalone, dried scallop, mushrooms, mussels and many more) is selling at less than rm40. That is affordable. But we didn't go for that as we thought that it's a bit too much for a dinner.

My friend decided to ordered their Ginseng soup with Chicken. The brown rice is actually a side order of the main dish. The portion is just nice for one person. If you are a small eater, you can even share this with your friend. The soup was nourishing and you can taste the strong ginseng in it.

Decided to order a vegetable and saw this broccoli dish which  looks really nice in the menu. Well, as we all know, what we see doesn't really end up in front of us. This is exactly the case for our broccoli with sliced abalone & scallop. Sounds nice but the picture in the menu does look more nicer than the actual dish. I guess the vege and scallop shrink after they steamed it. Nevertheless this is one healthy vegetable dish.

Here comes my dinner. Dried scallops with PETITE abalone mixed rich. This dish is totally over-rated from the menu. Everything looks more better than bigger in the menu. hahaha!!!  The mushroom looks bigger too but in reality all had been sliced to bits. It's actually your normal mixed rice but enriched with abalone and scallops.

I think they are not kidding when they say PETITE Abalone in their menu.

Yes, there's more to our dinner. We decided to order this sliced pork. Again the pork sliced looked so mouth watering in the menu. I can accept what we got at the end for this. "Di Huang" should be referring to the sweet sauce which comes with this dish I think. There are four slices of pork per dish.

So basically you wrapped everything in one slice of cabbage and add in the sauce and give it a big bite. Really juicy but you won't really feel that much of fat from the pork since you are eating it together with the cabbage. Not bad.

Overall, the visit was pleasant but the food in the menu doesn't really tell the whole story. Maybe their mixed seafood also the same. Will need to verify that on my next visit here. Their soups are really nourishing for male and female. So do give it a try and let me know what you think.

Phukat BBQ Buffer

Finally I have the time to filter through my pictures during my trip over to Phuket two weeks back. Not much to talk about during the makan session but the most memorable one would be this one. It was highly recommended by the local tour agent over there. Actually the fella is from Malaysia and is operating over there. So he is so nice of bringing 15 of us over to this place. He mentioned that this is the best serving BBQ in town. OK, we will see later.
The place was packed when we arrived and since we didn't make any reservation and having a big crowd didn't help much, we waited around 10 minutes for a table for all of us. The tour guide, Richard was so friendly and helpful since he's the only one who know how to converse in Thai, so he's plenty of help that night. You have locals and also foreigners in the restaurant. When we're moving in to the table, we saw a large crowd of Malaysian leaving and giving a good thumbs up of their experience. This should be good I think to myself.
Lets go through their menu or rather food on the table now. On the first corner we have the seafood section where as you can see, there's fresh prawns every where and plenty of them too. I didn't took much but just two of them for the soup.
On the other side, we have the marinated red meat section. You have beef, mutton, chicken and pork. I am particularly into the marinated chicken on top. All of these meat seemed really fresh to me, maybe it's due to the crowd and fast replenishing of the stocks on the table.
Here is the beef and mutton with some internal organs too. The far right corner would be the pig's skin as the cooking oil for the BBQ session. Yes, if you didn't realized it till now, it's actually similar to the BBQ Plaza over here (which is from Thailand too).
Plenty of vegetables to choose from but babe decided to go with the seaweed instead which I really love.
There are at least 5 types of chilies to choose from and here I had highlighted 3 of them since it's my favorite among the rest. This is the normal red chilly with lots of seeds in them. Not for the weak hearted.
This is the green chilly all minced and throw into a big pot. Look at the color~!
My favorite and one the most spiciest among the 5, you have everything inside. Onions, garlic, chilly leaves, chilly seeds and whole lot of everything else. Richard told us to mix all the 5 chilly together and take a dip in it. Yes, it's a very memorable moment during that first bite into it. haha!
Here's the seaweed vegetable which babe took a lot as she kept on reminding me that it's very good for the body as it contain iodine or some really good protein in it. OK, this I am alright with. Delicious.
This is how it all started, clean pot and clear plain soup.
This is what it become at the end, black burnt surface but the soup was so damn sweet due to the seafood and all the other vegetables that we cook in it.
Babe happily helping herself with the dessert.
We ordered 6 bottles of Pepsi (RM6/bottle). The Pepsi so darn old school. ^^
Overall we have a very filling and satisfying dinner that night. The price for the buffet is RM14/head. You need to pay for the ice cubes too (RM5/bowl). Yes, you need to pay for the ice cubes. Don't ask me why but you just need. After the big dinner we walk around town and had body massage before calling it a day. Definitely be recommending this place to my friends if they are going over if I can find the name card which I misplaced it last week. Dang~! Until then, I will keep searching until I find it. ^^

Food :3.8 out of 5.0
Ambiance: 3.5 out of 5.0 (actually it's quite windy and not that hot so it's still acceptable)
Service: 4.0 out of 5.0 (there's this fella standing next to our table just serving us drinks...cool)

Langat Fishing Seafood @ Hulu Langat

This is my second visit to this restaurant. This is definitely not an easy place to locate. It's located at Pekan Hulu Langat. You have to travel a short distance of jungle like trail before reaching the restaurant. But once arrive you can see a lot of big luxury cars park in front of the restaurant every night. The restaurant is called Langat Seafood & Beer Garden. They are famous with serving fresh seafood everyday. Walk in the entrance and you will see pictures of recommended dishes on the wall with some other pictures of famous celebrities who visited the place.

Herbal Chicken - RM28/half chicken
This is one of the recommended dish of the place. It's basically their version of herbal chicken wrapped in paper. Damn the chicken was so soft and tender with the soup being so tasty and all. This has to be one of the best herbal chicken I had. We had half a chicken that night. And it was large. Totally love this dish. We asked for a large spoon to finish off the soup at the end.

Sliced Fish in Kong Pow - RM38
I am not sure how to translate the name but it's called Sang Yue in Chinese. They have this special fish that night and the lady recommended it to us. Portion was really large but most important the fish were really fresh and soft. There are dried chilies, cashew nut, onions and capsicum. You might think it's a bit steep for the dish but it's really worth every penny of it.

Special Bean-Curd - RM10
The portion wasn't that much actually. As what other restaurant did on their house bean curd, this is too the same. They blend other bean curd and ingredients together and cooked it together. Nothing special here. But for the price, it's quite cheap though.

Paku in Belancan - RM10
This is one of their famous vegetable in the restaurant too. But it was a bit disappointing to us. The vegetable was alright but the dried prawns was too little to accommodate with the generous amount of belacan and vegetable.

At the end of the dinner, the place was packed by customers. The food was definitely worth the journey for me. Other than what I'd ordered on top, they are also famous for their fish head, pork knuckle and frog (tin kai). But mostly are fresh fish. Try to order some other vegetable and bean curd from the one I had ordered as it's not really that good as said. Definitely be going back some day with my family most probably as it's too far to bring my friends. I think they go crazy when I tell them how far it is. But for me, there are no far places where I won't go for good food. (Rating: 4.0 out of 5.0)

Ruenmai-Thai Restaurant - Krabi Town

This is one of the best seafood place in town, or so I heard. I was amazed with the entrance and the whole ambiance of the whole restaurant when I first set eye on it. It's located nearby the Krabi town. I think most of the taxis or tut tut know bout this place when you tell them the restaurant's name.

We arrived around 7pm and the place was already half full. You can opt to sit under the hut or outdoor. We had choose to sit under the hut as we know that we're gonna be very noisy and don't wanna disturb the other visitors.

This is their local fruit punch. It's filled with watermelon and sodas.

This is one of their curry fish is very famous over there. Actually they mix up our order but this dish wasn't that bad.

This is quick fried morning glory vegetable with oyster sauce. Although it's a normal dish but it's really like home cook meal.

This is one of the 'must' order for this place. This is their Fried Pork with garlic. This dish was so damn nice and delicious. Trust me, this is a MUST order.

This is another must order from the restaurant, which is their crab meat curry. It's not spicy don't worry but just nice.

This is a dish which we order last minute as we wanted some chicken in our menu. So here's the chicken cooked with onion and cashewnut.

Last but not least, we had ordered Seafood Fried Rice to go with all the other dishes. This is the 2nd time we ordered the same dish from two separate restaurant. Both was really good. I think for them this dish is like salted fish fried rice for us over here.

So how much did we paid for the whole meal for 7 pax? Total bill was around 1460Bhat. So it's around RM20/head. Yes it was really that cheap. We have fish, crab meat, chicken and pork and a whole big load of fried rice. If we do not include the water, actually it's just around RM15/head. The food tastes good and the price is affordable. Definitely a must go. (Rating: 4.0 out of 5.0)

Restaurant Dynasty Dragon Seafood

Saw this new restaurant while I'm making my way down after gym at Summit and decided to have a peek at their pre-CNY dinner promo. They are having a promo now for RM398++ per table. So suggested to the gang and here we are last night celebrating MD's birthday cum pre-CNY dinner Loh Sang.

The restaurant is located at closer to the Fitness First or office block side. If you know Black Canyon or Subway then you should know where it's located. It's formerly San Fransisco steakhouse. Interior was new and clean. Most of the big table were fully book that night so we couldn't get a bigger table.

We started the night with Yee Sang with Abalone. Yes, those white color strips you saw on top was abalone strips. Weird as they don't gave us those crispy crackers thingy. One thing for sure, it's made fresh and not those which came in packets. Anyway, we managed to clean the plate as we're all very hungry at that time.

Second dish was the Braised Shark Fin with Crab Meat. It's not that starchy but too salty for us. Some of us added a lot of vinegar to the soup and it was so salty. Even before adding anything it's already quite salty. Maybe they accidentally added soya sauce rather then vinegar to the dish before serving?

This is the Roasted Suckling Pig with Salted Soft Shell Crab. Suckling pig was not that fresh as it's a bit cold but still alright. The soft shell crab was really nice. Crunchy and fresh. The dish come with some buns at the side to go with the suckling pig.

This is the Steamed double Promfret with Soya Sauce. The lady was so nice to cut it for us and even de-bone the fish. Not that salty and meat was just nice to eat. But still can improve on the sauce though.

This is the Baked Sea Prawns in Coconut. I think I preferred it's served in butter cream or oat. Anyway, as long as it's crispy and fresh. And this dish really are fresh. We can peel off the shell with ease and the crispy shell does add some point to the dish.

Braised H.K Seasonal Vegetable with Dried Scallop. Well it's actually baby siew pak choy with small minced scallop. For me, I don't really like this dish that much. But someone's poison could be someone else honey. Portion was quite generous on this dish.

This is the Fried Rice with preserved Meat in H.K style. Someone said Loh Mai Kai. And the waitress straight away said it's not. We all had a burst after that. Surprisingly it's really nice. Not that hard and dry. Come with the lap cheong and meat which added some taste to the whole rice. Finished the whole plate up within two round.

Last but not least the dessert which is the Sweet Aloe Vera with Sea Coconut. Sorry no picture as we're all sipping in the drink and before I know it, it's already finished. Yes, it's what you will expect from a big restaurant. Service was good as they kept changing our plates most of the time or after each dish. No extra charges for outside drinks as we bought two bottle of red wine.

Now a bad place for a small family dinner or company dinner. But not that sure of the price of their ala-carte dishes. Maybe someone can try it out and let me know. They are now running promo on their dim sum which is 20% or 30% less. Nothing special I guess, rather go Ah Yat with 50% less on their dim sum anytime. Paid the bill with the additional price for the Chinese tea and also tit bits.
