Eat Work Shop - Glenmarie

Today I went to looked for an old friend for lunch. The place is called Eat Work Shop and it's located in Glenmarie Business Park. To be frank, I bet you can't find this place even if I told you the place. The reason? Well for one, the restaurant name wasn't visible from outside and second, the place is a shooting ground.
Anyway, let's get back to the food. They served western cuisine such as Pasta, Salad, Gourmet Sandwiches, Main Course and Desserts. Some recommended dishes overthere are their Smoked Salmon Salad, Blacken Dory Fillet, Grilled Beef Striploin, Spicy 'M' Pasta and their Ultimate Choc Fondant dessert. But as I was not into heavy lunch, so I ordered their Cabonara Pasta. Yes, predictable. Whatever. I like my Cabonara. You can choose from Beef Bacon or Grilled Chicken for their side and so I choose the first. It's not too say a large portion but just enough. And yes those are cheese shredded on top of the pasta. Nice~!! The bacon was a bit dry and hard but it's a bit crispy too. Overall the pasta was passable. Will try their other pasta next round. (RM 20.80)As for my friend, she ordered the Roast Chicken Sandwich. It's roasted chicken thigh, sliced tomato, lettuce, onions rings, BBQ sauce & house mayonnaise with side serving of fries. It was OK, and the roasted chicken was really hot from the oven. Can still see the smokes coming out from the chicken. (RM 16.80)As for the drinks, I had ordered their Earl Grey. Yes, I am so into Earl Grey nowdays. Maybe it's the aroma? But the tea bag was placed in the cup rather then in a tea pot. But it's refillable though. And then they give you a tea pot to refill your drink. Weird~! (RM 5.60)As for my friend, she ordered the Hot Caffe Mocha. But it's rather small and quite sweet. Well atleast she doesn't add any sugar to it. (RM 7.90)Well overall I can say that the ambiance and the service is good. It's not crowded as not many people know the place anyway. Only people who work around the place know of it's existance. I was introduced of the place around 2 years back. And the feeling is still the same. Should try the dessert and their cakes if you have the chance. Nice~! (Rating: 3.8 out of 5.0)

Kluang Station - Ikano Power Centre

I am not sure how many times had I took my Sunday lunch over at this place but let it's been a while since I visited last. So what's so special bout this place? Well like I said previously, I totally love their nasi lemak with ayam goreng. It's a bit dry this time but it's still very crunchy. As for Romiko, her usual would be the Asam Laksa. My brother had ordered their Boiled Eggs which was nice and not too raw. For drinks, what else but Cham Ice in this place for us. My brother had ordered their new Curry Lamb with Nasi Lemak. The Lamb Curry was alright but not to say delicious. Portion wise, it's just nice for one. My sister in law had ordered their new Asam Fish with Nasi Lemak. The curry was really nice as it's filled with a lot of 'santan'. Not bad if you like sour curry. lol~!

Kai Woh Bao - Sri Petaling

So where did I go for late supper tonight? Well it's a shop located at 140, Jalan Radin Anum 1, Sri Petaling. It's main business is selling Dim Sum. Well what's so special bout this dim sum shop from the other? The answer is the below special bao which they created. It's called 'Kai Wo Pao' or Chicken Nest Bao.

The reason is the shape of the outer skin looks like a nest maybe. The unique thing bout this bao is that the outer skin is made out of normal bao skin. They rolled the skin onto a cup and placed it into the oven to steam. After that, they will chunk the glutinous rice into the bao. What is inside the bao other than the rice? Well there is some boneless chicken, onions, salted egg, mushrooms and also minced pork.

They are selling each of these bao around RM4. Expensive? Well you decide. Since a single Loh Mai Kai nowdays already cost more than RM2. And since this bao contains a lot of other stuff like mushrooms and chicken and also pork, you can try to have a bit and decide. Well I would definitely recommend to those who like Loh Mai Kai and Bao. And they even come in special single box when you ordered a take away. Since you already paid for the box i assume. Local Delights - Back Lane off Jalan Pasar

It was 10pm when I reached Jalan Pasar. I had wanted to bring my girl to this back lane which sell a lot of local delights. We browsed around and she decided to eat some 'lok lok' since it's raining at that time. I had never tried this stall out before. Yes, I had been to this back lane a few times with different girls and friends. lol~! We ordered around 12 sticks of food and it cost us RM16. The chilly sauce which they provide was really nice. Food wise was alright. Nothing spectacular but just alright. So we walked to the end of the stall and saw a lot of other food. There was this stall selling desserts including their famous ABC and Cendol (Chinese style). There was also this stall selling fried taufu which is quite famous. Further down were some char kuey teow and also pork noodle stalls. At the other end of the lane, you can find the famous porridge shop which is just next to the intersection. Trust me, you can't miss it, the uncle will kept on calling, Porridge, Porridge, Porridge. Opposite the shop is still famous Chee Cheong Fun stall and next to it is the Yau Char Kuey stall. Further down you can see the most famous stall selling their Fried Chicken. Yes, people queue to buy they fried chicken. Tried before, well let's just say it's different in a good way. So for those who like local delights, do drop by here and try it yourself.

Busy Corner Restaurant - Damansara Jaya

This is one of the place which served unconventional Claypot Chicken Rice in the market. The place is located in Damansara Jaya same row as the Petronas Station and behind KDU College. Yes, same row with all the cyber cafes. The name of the place is Busy Corner Restaurant. I had started visiting the place since 6 years ago. Yes, that long.

So this time around I had decided to bring Romiko and BQ over to try it out. So I had ordered my favourite dish which is the Thai Style Clay Pot Chicken Rice. Yes, Thai Style, which means it's a bit sour and a lot of onions. Not many people could accept the flavour but I like it. As it's different from the others that I had.

Next is the original Claypot Chicken flavour which the two like better than the first. Well I don't blame them. But for me it's just OK. So I ordered a small portion compared to the large which I ordered for the first claypot. lol~!

I had also ordered their Yau Mak which was alright. What is claypot chicken rice without some vegetables right? They do served soups and all but I wasn't in the mood for it that day. Other then the two flavours, they do offer Black Pepper and also Prawn (which is the most expensive). They claimed that they need to change their claypot every week due to the heavy cooking from the business they had. So you decided if it's really that nice. (Rating: 3.8 out of 5.0)

Bumbu Bali - Bandar Puteri

So where do we decided to eat at the end? Well I decided Bumbu Bali Restaurant in Bandar Puteri. Yes, again. Well it's real good for one and the rest haven't tried it before. So I had asked BQ to joined me and MD for dinner. And one thing lead to another, QQ and Arianna was joining us at the end. Well like they said, the more the merrier.

As I don't wanna eat something that filling last night. So I had took the opportunity to try out their light snacks. So I had ordered their Crispy Chicken Bits. It's basically Crispy Chicken and french fries. But the chicken was really nice. And it's really a good combination of them both. There's also some chilly spices on the fries. Nice~! (RM10)

MD had ordered their Sate Lilit (is it?). It's mixed seafood meat and they grilled it up and shoved it into 4 lemon grass sticks. Well according to MD, it's nice. There are two sauce for you to dip it into. One is the spicy chillies and the other one which is a mixture of onions, garlics and small chillies.

BQ had ordered their Chicken and Fries which is so large in portion. Well just imagine my set but for two. It was really filling from the look of her face that night. Arianna had their kid's meal. Which is not bad at all according to her. It's minced grilled chicken sandwich with fries. QQ just ordered one of their soup and start munching away on BQ's fries. haha~! We had a long talk on gym and yoga that night. Nice~! Should have another round of this dine and chat again soon. (Rating: 4.0 out of 5.0)

Sushi Groove - 1Utama

Was having a late lunch on Sunday with Romiko and finally she decided to eat at this place called Sushi Groove. I heard from MD that the place wasn't that nice. But then again, LP did said the place was quite alright. Well I put my money on my bro anytime. haha~! Anyway, since she'd insisted to dine here. What the heck. When we entered the place, it was quiet and we're the second customer in the whole restaurant. Not a good sign. Decoration was a bit old but still OK.

So we browse through the menu and saw the sushi was quite pricey for the combination type. So we had decided to ordered two separate ala-carte meals and one sushi roll. For myself I had ordered the Crispy Ginger Chicken on Rice. It's actually Tori Karage with Syogayaki Sauce. Well it's alright but the rice is a bit soft and too dry. Chicken was nice. But nothing Groovy bout it anyway. (RM14.90)

Romiko had ordered their Yakiniku Bibimbab. Basically it's Japanese rice with beef, egg, paprika and cooked on hot nabe bowl with yakiniku sauce. The waitress came over and mixed the whole stuff together and the dish becomes a bit unappetizing. But well maybe the taste is good, right? Damn we're wrong. Romiko almost went to the ladies to vomit the whole meal off. Yes, it was that bad. (RM16.90)

The sushi roll which they recommended was called Hattori Hanzo Roll. It's chicken katsu (again) with a touch of cream cheese in spicy sauce. Need to emphasized again it's SPICY. So how they make it spicy, you asked? Extra Wasabi? NO! They put chilly sauce on it. Yes, you heard me right. My first time eating sushi with chilly sauce. Got a feeling this was a bad meal already to this extend. (RM8.90)

So what can I say? It's not gonna be my recommendation list for sure. Well maybe I would just warn my friends from a bad dinner at this place anyway. I am not sure bout the rest of the food. But from the three dishes which we had just tried, well let's just say, it's not the best I had. (Rating: 3.0 out of 5.0)

Sate Kajang Hj. Samuri - Kajang

My lunch today with my colleague in Kajang, where else but Hj. Samuri. We had went over Satey Malaysia last month and wanted to try out this one. It's not my first visit as I had visited this place a lot of times. The place wasn't that crowded during lunch hour. Upper level were closed and will only open during night hours.

First came the sauce. This is what I like bout this place. They had separated their sauce into two. For those who doesn't like spice in their sauce, you can opt not to add the sambal sauce (top right) into the normal peanut sauce (below left). But I like my sauce as spicy as they can get, so I had added a lot into it. I had also ordered their side dishes, cucumbers, ketupat and a lot of slice onions.

Here come the main course. I had ordered 10 sticks of Chicken, 5 sticks of beef and 5 sticks of lamb. Lamb was quite hard and the scent of raw lamb is still there. Beef was just alright but it's quite dry too. Chicken was alright. But not as much fat on the meat as I remembered. Maybe they are much more health conscience now. The whole meal cost me RM18 inclusive of drinks. (Rating: 3.8 out of 5.0)

Carl's Jr - Sunway Pyramid

MD and me had planned to visit Carl's Jr for quite some time. And tonight is the big night. The place was really crowded (surprised) and we had to wait for some customers to leave for a seat. So many burgers on the counter wall that we need to browsed through it for a few minutes before deciding what to order. I had settled with their Portobello Mushroom Burger (left) and MD had selected their Bacon Swiss Crispy Chicken (right). When they say, picture may differ from actual size, they're weren't bullshitting.

The above picture is the actual burger which we had ordered. Yes! Big difference. Maybe the taste is good? Well, MD's Crispy Chicken was really nice according to him. For my Portobello Chicken, well it's not bad then again nothing special bout it neither. It's almost the same as Burger King's Double Cheese Swiss Mushroom to me. And the price is half of what I am paying for Carl's Jr. Well it's my opinion anyway. But one thing for sure, it's better than Wendy's.

The fries that come with the set is totally different from the one that we had in McD or any fast food outlets. It's potato's wedges slice into fries shape. They uses Heinz chilly sauce and you need to ask before they will hand it over to you. Drinks are refillable, so don't size up your set if you're not that hungry. They even have Channel Island Roasting Co. Coffee and Hot Tea for you to drink. Other than burgers, they do serve side dishes like Beef Chili Cheese Fries (famous), CrissCut Fries, Onion Rings and Fried Zucchini. They had salads, Desserts and also Ice Cream Shakes & Malts. Restaurant Hong Cha - OUG Garden

Arrived in KL around 5 and sent my niece back to the nanny and we're off to Kinrara. But not before having our dinner. So I had decided to eat some where nearby. We had decided to tried out this place which my SIL heard from one of her friend. It's a place called Restaurant Hong Cha. It's located behind Steven's Corner in OUG Garden.

So what's so famous bout this place? It's their pork noodle. Well I had ordered their Dried Kuey Teow mixed with Yellow Noodle. As I am not that hungry, I had ordered a small portion. But with extra minced pork. I was really surprised when it arrived. The noodle wasn't the surprised but where's the extra minced pork I asked myself? The noodle was nice as it had fried lard in it. Yummy~!!!

Then came the soup that come together with the noodle. Damn~! Now I realized that the place don't sell Sam Kang Chong but normal pork noodle. So when we said extra minced pork it means in the soup and not on the noodle itself. So the soup was filled with a lot of minced pork, prawns, pork's liver and squid. Yes, there was even squid in the soup. The soup was really tasty maybe from the excessive amount of pork and seafood in it.
There were a lot of people already sitting down eating their noodle when we arrived. The women used a PDA type gadget to take our order. So high tech~!! I am guessing that the owner of this place is the same as the one opposite Steven's Corner. So how much did we paid for the whole dinner? You will be surprised that I paid RM38 for the whole dinner. Yes~! It's around RM7 or RM8 per bowl. And we had only ordered a small portion. So you judge if it worth your bowl of noodle. (Rating: 3.5 out of 5.0)

Weekend Back Home in Mentakab

So what did I do last weekend? Well I went back to my hometown in Mentakab with the whole family (Romiko, Robin, SIL and Chloe). Arrived around noon and thought of giving a short tour to Romiko on my hometown and checking out some of the local favourites. So off we go cruising the passed the main street of Jalan Temerloh to my Primary School to the basket ball court which I spent most of my teenage years playing. Since it's noon, so I thought to bring Romiko to this place called Restaurant Lean Kee. It's a famous local restaurant selling noodles. They are famous for their Hokkien Mee, Cantonese Mee and Wat Tan Hor. The restaurant had been in the town before I was born. Yes~! It was that long. I would definitely stop by to eat my favourite Hokkien Mee each time I am back. (Rating: 3.8 out of 5.0)After a filling lunch, what is the best way to cleanse the thirst from the hot sunny day but a bowl of Cendol. So the next destination is Restaurant Syed. It's famous for their varieties of Cendol and ABC. The owner started off from a small stall in the morning market to a big corner restaurant nowdays. So hard work do paid off. I had ordered their ABC Pulut while Romiko had their Cendol Pulut. All of their Cendol cost RM1.50. (Rating: 3.0 out of 5.0)After dinner at home, I had promised my precious to bring her out for kai kai. So off we go to the night market. Before entering the market I had stop by a stall selling Tau Fu Fa. The stall had been in the market for as long as I could remember it. From the father to the son to the daughter in law. And still the quality of the drink is still there. Could see a lot of people selling durians on the side of the road too. But couldn't eat as I had sore throat and I had too much durian already. Sigh~! Continued down the night market and saw a lot of interesting stuff on sale. Bought a Hello Kitty car sticker for my dear. Wanna get a Kaya Pao from one of the stall but they are out of it. Sux~! It's the best Pao stall in town. Then I saw this crowd around this last stall. It's selling this food called Chinese Burger. I never heard or saw this before (sorry if I am a bit Jakun~!) They had four type of flavour which are Minced Meat, Sambal, Chicken Flossed and Char Siew. My curiosity got a better of me, so I had bought their Sambal and Char Siew. It's basically one side Egg and the other side flour with the sambal/char siew in between. My verdict, tasteless. Really a waste of money (RM1.80/piece). (Rating: 2.0 out of 5.0)

Continued to walked to the other end of the market and decided to have a drink nearby. So where to drink but Old Town. LOL~! Like it's not enough that I spent so much time at this place over here in Subang with the gang that I need to visit them again in my hometown. Anyway, we stayed until 10pm and left for home. Tired and full from all the eating and drinking.

Kong Woh Tong

After a long appointment today, I pampered myself with a filling lunch with my friend. Why? Cause I'm not going for gym tonight. Weird, I know. But that is just how I am. Anyway, got home and catch up on my downloaded movies. I had an engagement tonight with a friend of mine over at Pyramid. So half way through my movie (You Don't Mess With Zohan), my friend called and I drove over to Sunway Pyramid.
Walked around and felt that my voice is changing and getting rough. Must be the late night Extra Spicy Char Keoy Teow my mom made for me yesterday. So we decided to go Kwong Woh Tong for some herbal drinks. I still remember my last visit to Kwong Woh Tong was at their another branch in Petaling Street with Romiko.

Both of us ordered a small pot of Gwai Nin Gou. Very cold and soothing indeed. Felt a bit better after the drink. Actually what is Gwai Nin Gou made of? Is it herbs and spices all add together and made into pudding? Well anyway, spent my RM7 for this small pot while a large pot cost RM9.

Pizza Uno - Centre Point Bandar Utama

Called up someone to have a late lunch with me this afternoon. Saw this place not too long ago and decided to try it out. The place is called Pizza Uno. Some of you out there might heard of the place before and might have visited their other branch in USJ. I had tried out the place of another branch and had a wonderful food over there. So I do hope that this outlet do not disappoint me. Here's the menu if you're wondering what they serve.

I'd decided to seat at one of the corner as it's not that packed. And I can see the traffic of people walking pass while I am sipping on my drinks later. The pizza over was just in front of me. So you can see the guy there preparing your pizza. Just like Dragon-I with their Siew Long Pao.

I had gone through the menu and decided to order my usual Cabonara but my friend had decided to order it. Well I can try it out later anyway. So I had ordered one of the waiter's recommendation, Baked Pasta. It's Spiralli with Chicken and Mushrooms baked with cream and cheese. And I do mean a lot of cheese. It was really delicious. The taste of the cheese and cream was just nice. (RM 24.00)

My friend had ordered the Alla Cabonara which is served lightly fried beef bacon and onions in their delicious creamy sauce. The cream sauce was really nice and the taste of the pasta was really nice. They served two type of pasta, the normal spaghetti or fettuccine. I surely will recommend the latter for my friend. The fettuccine is made by themselves, so you have to pay an extra RM2 for that and their spirrali too.(RM 24.00 for fettuccine or RM22.00 for spaghetti)

As usual I will order the Ice Lemon Tea (Peach Tea if they had to offer). It's nice and the glass was quite large too. (RM5.00)

OK, I am not gonna mentioned what happened, but I got this compliment by the manager of the place. It's made specially by the chef. It's not in the menu I think as I can't find it. It's Pudding with Strawberry Sauce mix with Lemon. Damn it's nice. The texture and the taste. But I'm not sure if you could order this on your trip over though. (estimated RM10.00)

So why do I ordered another drink you may ask? Well it's another compliment by the manager. He brought the Hot Earl Grey Tea over for us, with Fresh Slice Lemon and Milk. It's really nice sipping down some hot tea after eating a full delicious pasta. (RM5.00)

OK, by now you should be asking why was this guy getting so much compliment by the restaurant. Well I'm not going into details, but let's just say that something happened to my food and the manager changed another plate of my Baked Pasta. Oh ya, I got two plate of Baked Pasta during the lunch. I know it's a lot. The manager himself apologized to us on behalf of the staff and chef. He's very professional and know how to handle the situation. I was really surprised when they shown me the bill actually. For all that, they only charged me less than RM40. Sweet~! Will definitely go back to this place and try out their other dishes.
