Marche - The Curve

As usual, my Sunday morning stared with Master T's BC class @ The Curve. After the class I had rushed to bath and get ready as Romiko was waiting for me as well as my brother's family. So off I go and meet up with them at Mango. Later we had decided to have our lunch in Marche as my brother was treating us all. Sweet~!!! The place wasn't that pack when we arrived. So we decided to sit at the inner section. As it's not that congested.

So I straight away took one of the "passport" and started to roam around the place looking for anything good. First I ordered is their Cheese Rosti with Lamb Sausage. It's combination of onion and also potato, I think. haha~! It's nice and filling too. Especially the Lamb Sausage. They also served Cheese Chicken, Beef, Black Pepper Chicken and etc. My brother had ordered a Plain Rosti with Chicken Cheese. Not bad, but I prefer lamb.

The second dish that I ordered was their famous Grilled Turkey and Ham with Sunny Sunshine Up and Mashed Potatoes with Mushroom Gravy. This is really filling as the Turkey Ham is really thick and tender. The sauce is also nice and the mashes potatoes was really nice too. My brother had ordered the Grilled Chicken but it's a bit stale. But still it's just OK. The choices here isn't that much compared to the one that they had in Singapore. They do not have salmon over here. Sigh~!!!

The third dish of the day, Pasta~! I can't live without pasta, OK?!! So I had ordered their house Spaghetti with Cream Sauce topped with Turkey & Ham with Vegetables. The cream sauce was OK but I did ate a lot of this as I am very hungry after gym maybe. But there were the presence of vegetable scent in the pasta which I do not like. Call me homeboy, but Pasta for me do not mix well with vegetable.

To cleanse it all down, I had ordered their Bundaberg Ginger Beer. Highly recommended if you like root beer and also slightly taste of ginger. My brother had ordered the Dragon Fruit Juice which is a bit too sour. The whole meal cost around RM 138.00. Expensive? Well you decide. (Rating : 3.5 out of 5.0)

Fong Lye Taiwan Restaurant @ The Garden

Continuing from where I left off. So we were looking for a place to eat. This restaurant called Fong Lye catched my eye. Taiwan Restaurant. Why not? So off we went to the restaurant. It was around 80% full when I arrive that time. So I browse through the menu and look at the food.

I had ordered the Hot Oolong + Chrysanthemum which is nice and it's refillable. D'oh~!!

For the starter I had ordered the Taiwanese Glutinous Rice Sausage which is very famous as a snack in Taiwan. The sausage was nice and the rice was also delicious. But make sure u finish it as soon as it arrive as the glutinous rice gets cold and not that tasty anymore.

Romiko had ordered the Taiwanese Braised Beef Noodle. The set includes the main dish which is braised beef in noodle, side dishes includes some sort of salty veges to increase the appetite. And the middle one is the fried potato with stuffed pork inside. I think. haha~! The dish is really nice as the noodle is slightly spicy as they had added lil bit of curry oil in it. Nice~!

This is what the noodle looks like from close up~!

This is what I had ordered, Taiwanese 3 Variety Supreme Diced Chicken. The dish comes with the same side dishes but the rice is added with Diced Chicken and also a vegetarian soup. I didn't drink it as I don't really into it. So Romiko finished it for me. hehe~! But the gravy from the hot plate was very nice. That is why they called it Supreme maybe. hehe~! Highly recommended.

This is what the rice with the diced chicken looks like from close up. The rice is Japanese rice as it's all bit by bit and not mashed up like our local rice. Sweet~!!

This is the Supreme Chicken main dish. The chicken is cooked in thick sauce with ginger and parsley. This is the the best part of the meal. hehe~!

This is the vegetable soup that I mentioned. You can't really see the veges but it's in there. Trust me~!

The meal was really filling. I can't finish it so Romiko ended up finishing both our meal. haha~! The table were rather small for the big plates that they gave to us. The service was good. U can always see people walking around and u can call them over for some extra rice or refill on ur tea. The deco was definitely nice and comfy. So what is the damage?

Well it's not that expensive. Quite OK for me. Will definitely return for another visit. (Rating : 3.8 out of 5.0)

Pasta Zanmai @ 1Utama Old Wing - 15/03/08

I was browsing through The Star paper on last Thursday and found this Japanese Restaurant is having some promotion and I shown it to my gym-mates, since we're all so into Japanese food lately. I had planned to go over and try it out as the place features Japanese, Western and Fusion cuisine. The place that I am talking about is called Pasta Zanmai which is located at G210B, Ground Floor Promenade,1 Utama Shopping Centre. U can call over for booking at 03-7728 1210.

The place is located next to Yoshion and same row as Carl's Jr. The restaurant's outside is selling these Japanese tit bits. It's some sort like Japan's grocery store or 7-11. hehe~ So u can browse for some tit bits while ur waitin for ur seats. But I think the price for the food sold in Jusco is slightly cheaper though.(Yes, we checked already. hehe~!). They have a few different outlet around Klang Valley which is Sushi Zanmai in Sunway Pyramid & The Gardens, Sushi Zen in Midvalley and Pasta Zanmai in 1Utama.

Ok, back to the story, I went over with Romiko and Joanned told me that she's @ 1U and wanna try that place out. So we decided to go together since 2 of us can't try all of the food over there. So we meet up around 7pm and have dinner together. Once seated we straight away browse through their menu and found that there is alot of interesting food to ordered. So it took us sometime to make up our mind. As we would like to order all the food that they had. haha~!! But reality got the hold of us and we decided to ordered what we like most and never tried before and share together so we can all try the taste of it. Nice~!

The place's environment is really nice and the ambiance was so good. As there were not many customers around so it's still quite and peaceful.:) So the waiter come over and took over order and we waited around less than 10 min for the food to be served. Quite fast if I should say so myself.

Before the main course is served, the waiter come over and gave us this black pepper thingy for us to grind I and we asked him what to do with this (yes, we're kampung ppl, :P) He told us that, the pepper was for the beef noodle. Sweet~!

So here come our two pot of green tea. To our surprise, the pot that gave us was so large. Finally we found out that they might had run out of small tea pots and gave us this large one. But we're the same price for the pot. hehe~ Nice~!

Joanne had ordered the Kani to Avocado Salada. It's crabmeat& avocado salad, with choice of Goma (sesame) Miso (Soyabean Paste) or Non-Oil Aojiso (Perilla) Dressing. The salad and crabmeat was fresh and the dressing is just nice. From the look of Jo's face, I guess it's really nice. haha~ But the portion is quite small though. Well maybe cause it's Joanne who is eating it. haha~!!

Next, Romiko's Gyu Shabu no Gomadare Shitate. To make it simple, it's Blanched Beef Pasta topped with Sesame Sauce. Damn the sauce is so nice. Plus we added the black pepper thingy that we grind in the beginning, the scent of the sesame sauce and beef mixed together is so mouth watering. I like this dish. Definately a repeat order from me. The pasta is just nice, not too hard not too soft.

Next is Tze's Sauce Yaki Pasta. It's Prawn and Shrimp Fried Pasta. The portion is large for this dish. U can see there are two big prawns on the top of the dish. The presentation of the dish is good. The taste is alright. It's different from the pasta that I ate before. Hmm...somethin like Seafood Diablo with Japanese Seasonings. haaha~ Nice nice~!

Last but not least my dish, Sirloin Steak. It's what the name apply, Sirloin Steak with Teriyaki Sauce.
I had ordered the set rather than the ala-carte so it comes with a side salad and also a miso soup. Sweet~! I had ordered the sirloin to be prepared medium well but some part of it is still quite raw. So it's very hard for me to finished the last two pieces of it. But overall it's nice. The teriyaki sauce is not too sweet and added to the tender sirloin it's just perfect. (well almost perfect la~!). The set is quite filling as it comes with a bowl of rice too. The portion is just nice, not too small atleast.

Before we called it off for the night, we ordered a desert to try. So we decided to ordered the Fruit Parfait. It's Vanilla Ice Cream with assorted fresh fruits (strawberry, peach & kiwi), top with chocolate & hazelnut sauce. Not bad, not bad at all. But the portion was really small. From the menu we tot the portion will be larger. Anyway, it's nice and we finished it up at the end.

So how was the dinner altogether? I will definately return as I wanna try out their Salmon pizza and Gyuniku to Tamanegi no Soup Pasta (Beef & Onion Soup Pasta). So we had forked around RM 140 for the whole dish. Well for me it's OK. But Zen might be slightly better and larger portion. hehe~! (Rating : 3.8 out of 5.0)

Soong Kee Beef Noodle @ Jln Tun Tan Siew Sin - 14/03/08

It was Thursday noon and I was looking for someone to have lunch with me. So I called Calvin up and he wanted to go Petaling Street to look for something. So I decided to drive down wit him. Once I got down, I straight away know what I wanted to eat. Soong Kee Beed Noodle. My Gosh~ It's been awhile since I last visited the place. It's one of the best beef noodle in the whole K.L that I had even tasted. Honestly, I am not pulling your leg.

So once I arrived, I straight away look for a seat (it's not that difficult as it's around 2pm at that time). If you arrived during lunch hour, than you may need to queue up for a seat. Their operation time is from 11am - 12pm from Mon to Sat (Sun & Public Holiday close). For the whole pricing list, please refer to the above picture.

So once I am seated, I called the waiter over and ordered myself one Big Bowl of Dried Beef Noodle with Extra Minced Beef. The bowl of noodle comes together with one bowl of their specialty beef noodle in their specially prepared beef soup. The soup itself tasted so sweet and the scent of beef is really strong. So for those who like beef, than you must try this out. You can find a lot of beef noodle stalls that sells beef's intestine and all but seldom with full minced beef and also beef balls. The beef balls texture is definitely different from the one that we normally eat outside. It's not mixed with flour or squishy. It's just nice and you know it once you sink your teeth into it.

Whereas Calvin had ordered a large bowl of beef balls. Wow~ It's really large. I mean the portion. There is at least 14 - 15pcs of it. Mine was around 8pcs. Very filling.

The placed is well-established for over 60 years in Kuala Lumpur. The fresh casserole beef is cooked for 3 hours till it becomes tender. I heard that many of their loyal customers have patronised this restaurant for three generations. So what are you waiting for? It's highly recommended by me. So take your son or daughter or gf or bf over now. haha~ (Rating : 4.5 out of 5.0)

Pick n Brew - Glenmarie

It was Wednesday noon and I was surfing the net looking for some info and then LP msn me and invited me to go "market survey" with her. I know the place so I "offered" to accompany her since got "free" coffee. haha~ and an opportunity to blog the place. I read of the place from another blogger and I had since wanna go over to look for myself. The place that I mentioned is called Pick n Brew.

The name "Pick n' Brew" refer to both the name of cafe and coffee. Pick n Brew consists of 30 different types of coffee categories into 3 main categories namely Vibrant, Inspirational and Passionate, allowing customers to select and pick coffee from different regions that best suits their palate. The coffee will then freshly grind and brew with Moka pot. The idea of Moka pot is basically to bring rich, syrupy attributes of espresso to our customers. (caption from Jackson Kah - co-owner of Pick n Brew itself).

What do they served? Hmm...well beside coffee they do served food which consists of western (pasta, spaghetti and fish & chips) to Asian food. They have a small pantry selling cakes and also muffins. The ambiance of the place is nice as it's cozy and also the music that they play is jazz type. So if u can imagine from the picture above, ur sitting on a comfortable sofa, small rain drops outside the window, one hot cup of fresh brew Brazilian coffee with a soft scent on ur table with ur favourite novel on ur hand. Relaxing~~~ : )

But sadly to say, there were some water shortage when I reached over so they couldn't prepare any hot coffee for us. They can only served ice blended coffee. Sad case :( So I asked the waiter to recommend to us and he had recommended us the ice blended mocha frappachino~ i forgot the exact name as it's very complicated to remember. haha~

The drink is nice. Presentation wise is alright. I like the ice blended that they recommended to us. Will i drink again? Yup~! Well anyway, the price for the pasta is slightly on the high side. Don't have the time to try it out as we need to rush for 5.45pm BP @ MC. haha~ They are opening their branch in 1U soon. So look out for that. (Rating : 3.5 out of 5.0) - cause i didn't taste their food yet~ But I give 4.0 for their environment : )

Romi Curry Puff @ SS2

Best Curry Puff I had in town. Where else but Romi's Curry Puff in SS2. It's located on the food court at the corner. Same row with the Dim Sum shops. I forgot the exact address already. But opposite the place is a row of houses and the last house is a flower shop. Anyway u can PM me if u wanna know the exact location. : )

Why is it so special u may ask. Well for one, the outer part of the curry puff is very crunchy. U can see from the picture that the skin is so crunchy and tasty. The curry puff is prepared hot each time. As there is a lot of people who queue up to purchase it so u can assured that the one that u bought is not from the morning needless to say overnight. Yummy~! Secondly, u can smell the scent of Planta so strong. I had purchased half a dozen home and on the way home I can still smell the curry and planta scent in my car. Hehe~! :P What else, hmm...the outer layer is divided into two part. One which is thin and crunchy and the other which is soft and pack to cover the inner ingredients. The ingredients inside consists of potato, curry leave, minced chicken and whole lot of curry powder. So u can imagine the smell of strong curry powder plus Planta. haha!! It's selling at RM 1.30 per piece and best part is, it's HALAL~! I even ta pou for my colleagues few months back. So if u do pass by the area and wanna eat something light, why not try this out. Highly recommended : ) (Rating : 4.0 out of 5.0)

*PS: Sorry that I don't have a picture of the stuff inside, as I was too busy munching the puff in before I could snap a picture. hehe~! :P

Restorant I-Po @ Bayu Perdana, Klang

This is not my first visit over but it's been awhile since I last visited the place. The place I am referring to is called Restaurant I-Po which is famous for their Crispy Duck. Yummy~! I went over for lunch with my customer. The parking is really a pain in the arse over there. As there is a Maybank situated on the same row. The place is on the right hand of the road if your coming down from the main road.

The portion above is for single person but it's not that large as we had imagine so we had also ordered some Siew Yuk~! The roasted duck is crispy and also juicy. But the portion of meat is not that much. So I am not that full after the whole meal. hehe~!

The dish is served with the conventional sweet sauce but they did have this spicy sauce which is not available else where if I am not mistaken. I asked for second on the sauce as it's really appetizing.

The siew yuk is a bit disappointing as it's quite dry but still I finished it up cause I was really hungry. haha~ Still can order la, just that I got high expectation on the Siew Yuk that I ate maybe.

All together it was a nice lunch and the roast duck is not what I had expected but still it was better than the average roasted duck that I had ate. Will I go back again? Let's put it this way, I will not purposely go down to eat it but will recommend it to my frens. (Rating : 4.0 out of 5.0)

Lorong Selamat Char Kuey Teow @ USJ 11

This is one of the best Char Keuy Teow that I had in KL. Well the name says by itself I guess. For Penang people or Char Kuey Teow lovers u should know Lorong Selamat. It's a street name in Penang which is famous for their Char Kuey Teow. The couple (old folks) came from Penang and u can talk Hokkien with them if u know. But Mandarin and Cantonese is OK too. So this morning I went over with my bro, Robin to have breakfast as his car was sent to Honda service centre nearby. It our usual place for breakfast i guess. hehe~! So upon arrival, I straight away ordered one plate of Char Kuey Teow with Mee without Cockle and Bean Sprout. haha~ I know, I Know. My fren told me that is not the way to eat Char Kuey Teow but I don't really fancy cockle and tau geh that much. And definitely not kuey teow only. By gosh No~ haha~

The mee is prepared on top of a banana leave like in Penang. Ok, let's get into the details now. They have 2 big prawns. They also add some crispy lard which I love a lot ... : P And some slices of Chinese Sausage on top. This is onli available if u eat Penang style char kuey teow according to my Penang frens. hehe~ The way she cooked the mee almost to perfection. The distribution of eggs on each mee is just right. U can see some eggs on almost each mee that u eat. That is not simple. Mostly we will see people messing up the eggs and come out the char keuy teow looks like a piece of wet mee mix all together with some other stuff. Yukk~!!!

Btw, u can see the uncle puffing in the black pepper onto the mee with such passion and concentration. It's like an "art" to him. haha~ No laughing matter. You can go and see if you want. But I highly recommended to those who like Char Kuey Teow.. two thumbs up~! (Rating : 4.0 out of 5.0)

Gerai Yati @ Selera Jaya 223

It was late at night and Romiko was bugging me for supper. I looked at my watch and both the needle is at high noon. Wow~! It's midnight now. Where the hell do I wanna bring her? I can always choose to eat outside my house. But I had something else in mind. My old time favourite, Nasi Lemak Panas at Selera Jaya 223. I had previously bring some of my gym mates over to try the place out and all were amazed.

So I drove over the place which is located opposite Amway building in Jln 223. It was very dark at one end and as we're walking in, we can see a shimmering light coming from the other end. (Wah! this sentence sounds familiar - haha~!!!) I know the place should be very lively around this time and damn I was right. The place was almost filled up completely. Luckily I got a table near to the stall which I wanted to eat.

The stall is called Gerai Yati, No.6. Always remember to eat from this No.6 stall. U will know why later on. The other stall nasi lemak is a bit different from the one that this is serving. It's more spicy, and for me this is the way nasi lemak should be eat.

So I called the "ane" over and ordered my favourite drink over there, Milo Ice "Kau". You must remember to tell him "Kau" as this is the way it is suppose to be drink. Thick and Cold. They should called it Milo T-Rex or something la~ haha!

Next, I ask for the guy to bring me some Nasi Lemak Panas from No.6 stall. And he brought over 4 packs. So little but no problem. There were more to come. haha~!!! Always remember that there will be an in print of the stall's name on the packet of nasi lemak. Remember it!!! They even got a tel no for u to pre-oder. I think.

When u open it up. U can really see steam rising up from the rice. Damn~! It's HOT!!! Oh ya~! One reminder, always touch and feel the packet 1st b4 u open it. If it's not HOT, than ask for him 2 exchange it for u. The portion is not that large and there is the normal ikan bilis, peanuts and half boiled egg inside. But the thing is that, the nasi lemak is prepared HOT!!! It's raining when I was going over so u can imagine the HOT & SPICY nasi lemak felt while I am eating it. Damn!!! It's indescribable.

And if u like spicy food (as crazy as I am) than u can ask for extra sambal. I always ask for it from the kakak inside the stall. But a word of advice, the sambal is really freaking spicy. I am not shitting u here. So if u have a sensitive tummy, please dun force it. This is one of my favorite nasi lemak stall other than the SS2 opposite the police station. All my colleagues and frens had good reviews about this place. Thanx again for my bro for introducing this place to me 10 over years back. hahaaha~!!! (Rating 4.0 out of 5.0)
