The Daily Grind @ Bangsar Village 1

I heard and saw reviews of this place and finally I am here. Why is it so appealing (to me)? Well, the main reason is, they serve more than 20 types of burger in this restaurant. Yes, you heard me right, 20 over variates of fat juicy patties. The name of the place is called The Daily Grind. It is located inside Bangsar Village 1 on the lower ground floor if memory serve me right. It's just right across BV2 if you're walking over from it. I saw there's a sign outside which says that they are moving some where or doing some renovation.

TDG Ice Lemon Tea
This is one of their in house specialty I guess, since it bares the restaurant's name in it. A nice cooling ice lemon tea with a tint of fresh mint leave on top.

Fried Calamari - RM12
My friend and I decided to nibble something before the main course and decided to go with fried calamari. It was a battle between onion rings and this, and she warned me not to order the first as she don't like onions. Sigh~! I can live with calamari. It's freshly fried to crisp with tar tar sauce on the side. Something to open up our appetite as we didn't ordered any soup this time.

Classic Cheese Burger - RM27
When the burger arrives, we had a shock of the size of it. One thing that I need to tell you is that all their patties are weighing at 180g. Yup, it's fat and juicy. As the name goes, there's one thick slice of cheddar cheese right on top of the patty. Served with salad and fries on the side. This is one whole lotsa beef you need to get in down your tummy with.

OMG~! Did you saw how thick is that patty? She even added a fried egg on top of the patty. This meal spells Evil. And you know where those onions on top goes even before the meal.

Italian Mozza Burger - RM34
Since my friend is having cheese, I thought of joining her. But when I go, I go in style, so I had ordered their gourmet burger with melted Mozzarella cheese. Imagine hot melted Mozzarella cheese on top of that fat juicy 180g patty with smoky tomato sauce and a tint of basil pine nut pesto. If that doesn't kill you, try finishing up that salad on the side and those crispy fries too. Tell me this is not Evil with the capital E. Simply filling.
Another view of the melted Mozzarella cheese on top of the juicy beef patty. You can't even see the patty from the rear. This is fattening but damn good.

The place is a bit dark but cozy. Not too crowded and noisy. But you still have the normal lunch crowd coming in to grab a fast bite. Or you can just laid back and enjoy the food with good company watching the crowds walking out side. Their dinner menu seemed really interesting too. The place emphasized on their gourmet burger as it's premium cuts of chilled 'imported' halal meat and grind them in the restaurant at a controlled environment. They do it the old school way. All their patty contains 180g pure meat holding together with fresh eggs. Sounds delicious? Why don't you go and have a bite and let me know what you think. The price seemed to be a bit steep for a lunch but it's not always that you open a menu and there's so many burgers to choose from. And again it's gourmet burger and 180g pure meat of that. Chef Loong @ SS2

I was told of this restaurant by my ex-colleagues on a few occasion and finally we managed to pay it a visit a few weeks back. I was really happy with the lunch over there and decided to bring my lunch buddy over. The restaurant is located at SS2 same row as the police station. The restaurant is managed by a lady boss who is very friendly and glad to introduce what is good over there. Since it's my second visit, I know what I wanted to order and recommended my lunch buddy something too.

The set that we ordered come with a glass of cooling home made sugar cane chestnut. If you noticed from the above picture, one of the drink are different as they ran out of sugar cane and gave me something else. They even have winter melon too offer you if you wanted.

The set also come with their soup of the day. It's nothing spectacular here but something to warm your tummy up before the main course. The soup is warm and not too plain and not too salty. Your average bowl of soup.

Stirred Fried Spicy Rice Flour Roll - RM5.50
This might looked like a simple dish but trust me it's delicious. It's actually stir fried chee cheong fun. But they added sesame seed, eggs and some garlic on it. If you bite on it, you have this bit of crunchy texture on it as the surface are fried too a bit burn. So there's this crispy bite to it. Trust me, it's really nice.

Shanghai Steamed Double Boiled Soup Dumpling
This is also part of the set that we ordered. Yes, it's Siew Loong bao. Size is your average steam dumpling and the soup inside isn't that half bad. Actually it's quite alright. Don't compared to the RM9 per set over at i-Dragon over here and you be having a cheap good Shanghai dumpling. Ala-carte are selling for RM4 I think.

Stir Fried Spicy Ramen - RM13.80
The set which I had ordered is their stir fried spicy ramen and I ordered mine extra spicy. Looks simple but the noodle are tangy and nice to bite on. Not too salty or over cooked but just nice. Prawns are a bit sad but for the price I am paying and all the above side dishes, I am alright with it.

Spicy Fried Rice - RM13.80
My partner in crime had ordered their spicy fried rice. It's not that spicy actually. Nothing special bout the fried rice here. A bit of floss on top with fresh prawns to go with the fried rice. Again, I am emphasizing that the set is value for money. Nothing too fancy but think about what you're having.

Overall, we had a really filling lunch and almost didn't managed to finish the side dishes. I think nowadays, we spend around RM10+ for lunch alone with drinks sometimes cost about RM4-6. I am talking about eating out at restaurant and not economy rice of course. So why not eat something worth your money and also good at the same time. Other than the above, they have ten over sets for you to choose from. So do have a try and let me know what you think. (Rating: 4 out of 5)

Nambawan Restaurant & Cafe @ Old Klang Road

It was a Saturday morning and I was reading my favorite paper and while I was browsing through the Metro section, I was this foodie section which attracted me. It's being introduced by some other blogger I think. It's a restaurant called Nambawan Restaurant. It's located at Sri Manja Square One. What attracted me? One word, Pork. They serve pork burgers. I am a sucker for pork. Since it's nearby my house, I decided to go over with babe and my friend to check it out. It was around 1.30pm when we reached and the place is already half full. I think they are under employed as my cry for order was left with deaf ear for some time. Anyway, lets go through the food.

100% Home Made Pork Burger - RM6.90
This is one of the recommended in the article. As you can see the set comes with some fries on the side too. The pork burger is a bit soft and not that pack but there's also a good point as it's more juicier. The patty isn't that large but for the price we're paying, it's damn worth every penny of it. Fresh lettuce, tomato and cucumber on top. Nice.

Grilled Steak Sandwich - RM8.90
We were really surprised when the dish was served on the table. It was really juicy and large. The steak was tender grilled to perfection. Add that with some onion rings and tomato and you get yourself a great lunch.

Stone Charbroil Pork Belly - RM13.90
I recommended babe to take this dish when I saw it in the menu. My last pork belly would be during my visit at Belly Good few months back. So I decided to try this out. And it's really a good choice. Portion is really generous. The gravy on top is some sort like brown sauce. The dish is served with roasted potatoes and garden salad. See that stuff on top, Yes, it's fried pork skin. Crunchy~!!

Succulent Pork Ribs - RM25.80
We saw this from the customer next table and decided to share as the portion was really large. There are at least 5 ribs and trust me there's a lot of meat on it. The sweet sauce really goes well with the ribs. Plenty of fries below and garden salad with coleslaw on the side. Aside from the ribs, the coleslaw on the side is really fresh and appetizing too.

I read from the paper that the chef came back from New Zealand and brought back some of the cooking experience that he had when is he residing over there. The place is clean and looks like a family outlet and I can see some family members and teenagers dining there too. The price is one of the main factor why I went over as it's really affordable. For the quality and quantity of the food we're paying, I am 100% satisfied with everything that I am paying for. Try it out and let me know what you think. (Rating: 4.5 out of 5.0)
