Louisiana Resaurant @ Plaza Kelana Jaya (2nd Visit)

This is my second trip over to Louisiana (not the State) within a month. My first visit was with ex-colleagues for some All-You-Can-Eat Pasta during lunch hour and this time around was for my friend's birthday. Heard that their ala-carte tasted quite alright. So I had recommended the venue for the special day. Arrived around 7pm and I had wanted to sit out door to view the lake and water fountain (minus the fountain) at the middle of the lake. Crowd started to pour after 8pm and we noticed that at least 4 table of patrons are celebrating someone birthday that night.

Carribean Sea - RM 36.90
This appetizer is some sort like Chili's Triple Play or Three For All from TGI Fridays. This is not bad as they consists of 4 different seafood. It's a combination of cheese baked mussel, fried shrimp, fried calamari and fish fingers. This is really nice and the portion was alright. We all know why Chili don't have a four dish appetizer cause or else they need to name it Four Play (foreplay) which sounded a bit obscene. LOL!!!

Forest Wild Mushroom Soup - RM 10.90
The soup is loaded with lots of mushroom and is accompanied with a slice of garlic bread on the side. The soup is warm and not too thick. Taste was alright but was a bit disappointed as it was a bit watery at some point which means it wasn't that fresh I think. A bit too pricey I guess for a bowl of mushroom soup for me.

Spaghetti Carbonara - RM 27.90
The sauce was really thick and creamy which I like. Lots of sliced chicken on top with mushroom, herbs and spices garnishing on top of the pasta. If you fancy something else other than spaghetti, well they only serve that and penne. So there's no fettuccine in this place. A bit pricey but quite worth the money. For those who like Carbonara as I much as I do, you can have a try at this.

Louisiana Shrimp's Scampi - RM 26.90
First, sorry for the bad quality of picture as it was quite dark that night. But trust me, this looks better in reality. It's chargrilled large shrimp sauteed with cajun spice, lemon juice, roasted garlic and pasley. Shrimp was fresh and large too. Pasta tasted nice with a taste of cajun spice and a bit lemon taste. If you like something from the sea and a bit of spice and sour in it, this is your dish.

Chicken of Alabama - RM 23.90
Was recommended by the waitress as I was deciding between this and their chargrilled cajun chicken. This is actually deep fried chicken chop with rich creamy sauce sauteed with assorted vegetables with fries and green salad at the side. Fries is a bit cold but not all that bad. Chicken is warm and still crispy with thick creamy sauce which I like. Portion was moderate, just enough for dinner. Like the sauce but would be good if there were some coleslaw at the side too.

Chicken Cordon Bleu - RM 27.90
As the name shows, and I think most of you had tried it some where before, it's cheese wrapped with ham in chicken breast. It's deep fried on the outside and spread with special cream sauce over a mashed potato. Not every like this dish. Some said Secret Recipe served a better choice. As they used breast over here, it's more healthier but not everyone like breast meat. And the cheese isn't flowing out from the chicken when you slice between the chicken which is quite disappointing. But the cream and potato was quite alright.

Overall the dinner was alright. Nothing over the top but not too disappointing. Ambiance was really nice and quite windy as we're seated next to the lake. A good place to escape from the busy traffic of life and enjoying a quite dinner with friends and love one. They served Hoegaarden at this place too and the price for a full pint is just RM26 which is cheaper than what we had at Brussels previously. Tried their brownie with ice cream which was nice too although the brownie wasn't heated up to perfection. Will I return? Yup, one of these days with my babe. As I like the environment, service and also quality of food which they serve. (Rating: 4.0 out of 5.0) Extra points for the environment.

Euro Deli @ Damansara Kim

I had always wanted to give this restaurant a visit since it's so near to my work place and also home (previously) at SS2. I passed by the restaurant again early this month and determine to go this on this week. Babe called me up for lunch and I brought her over to the place and it's called Euro Deli. For those who frequent Jusco, Cold Storage, Careffour or any other market should have at least heard of the name before. They are selling fresh made sausages, ham, bacon and any other pork like meat in their outlet. But the one which is located at Damansara has a restaurant in it or rather the other way around. The other outlet which I know is located at USJ Taipan and also Jalan Yap Kwan Seng in KL.

Upon ordering we are served with their fresh baked buns with Bridel's butter. Never judge the book by it's cover. The bun might look a bit plain all but it's really soft and some what sweet inside. And it's still warm too. I was thinking if I could ordered a second basket for the bun or not.

Pilz Suppe (Mushroom Soup) - RM 9.90
I am such a fool for soup. If I saw a place serving soup, I will definitely asked for one. Well this only applies if I am having pasta or western food of course. Anyway, the soup was warm and creamy, just the way I like it. There are some croutons on top but a bit hard. Anyway, the main is the soup of course and it's good.

Spaghetti Carbonara - RM 22 (Main) or RM 15 (Starter)
OK, I know I should have ordered pork sausages or at least pork steaks but when I saw they have Carbonara in their menu and it's one of their recommended item, I couldn't say NO to that. They have two sizes, main and starter, latter being the smaller portion. I had ordered the main the portion was really generous too. It's served with a lot of bacon and ham with bits of mushroom. It's really creamy but not too dry to the extent where you need to pour some water into it. Plenty of ham and bacon which was really worth my money.

Emmenthaler Sausage - RM 19
I never could figured out with all these German names and all so I had Google Emmentaler up and found out that it's actually Swiss Cheese. The sausage is packed with this Swiss Cheese inside and it's so plentiful of them inside. It's not frozen but juts nice and the outer layer of the sausage is still crispy when you bite into them. The sausages are served together with potato salad  (YUMMY!!) and Sauerkraut. To put it simple sauerkraut(sour cabbage in German) is actually fermented cabbage and trust me it tasted good with a bit of salted ham inside. Delicious.

Other than dining in, you can also browse through their cold storage section for some ham, bacon or sausages. During my lunch I saw a lot of women came over to buy their pork over here. Environment was good with a lot of seats. A bit steep for lunch but we need to pamper ourselves once in a while of course. Babe ordered a brewed coffee and the total bill amounted to RM65. We had a really fulfilling lunch and another one for me today. There are still a few dishes in the menu which I wanted to try out. Maybe on my next trip. (Rating: 4.2 out of 5.0)

Louisiana Restaurant @ Plaza Kelana Jaya

I received a call from my ex-colleague yesterday for luncheon. I straight away say YES once I heard where or rather what we're gonna have, All-You-Can-Eat-PASTA!! You had me at Hello guys. lolx!!! The place is called Louisiana which is located inside Plaza Kelana Jaya. If you're familiar with Kelana Jaya then you should know where is Kelana Seafood previously, it's around that area facing the lake.

So what are we having for the all-you-can-eat promotion. The promo only valid from 12.30pm till 3pm everyday. You can order up to 4 plates of pasta, which they have 7 varieties of them. First glass of ice lemon tea is included but the coffee is free flow and so is the salad and soup of the day. For all of this you are only paying RM14.90++. So let the drum rolls for the pasta feast.

Soup of The Day
They were serving tomato soup today. It's hot and I would say alright. Nice to warm up my tummy before the big lunch ahead. You can refill the soup as much as you can. So help yourself.

Chicken with Olive
The taste of olive oil was strong and there were plenty of garlic, capsicum and carrots in this pasta. The taste of olive oil are really refreshing. This is one good plate of pasta. We ordered a second for this.

Mexican Aglio Olive
There were a lot of olive oil and also fried to crispy garlic in this pasta. Like the first one, the dish concentrate on the olive oil but this is more plain as there wasn't much vegetable or rather anything else in the pasta.

Beef Bolognese
There is nothing much special about this pasta as it's just a normal beef Bolognese. It's alright but nothing spectacular bout this pasta though. We didn't ordered a second for this as it's quite normal.

Chicken Smoked Sausages
Oh, this is one good plate of pasta. We have chicken cut in chunk with smoked sausages. There were also some mushroom bits in the pasta. This is recommended definitely.

Creamy Pesto White Fish
We didn't realized how good was this plate of pasta till the very end. So we ordered a second for this. This is a very simple plate of pasta with cream sauce and olive oil but there were fried to crispy fish on top of it. Really refreshing.

Chicken Carbonara
I was really worried when they served this plate of pasta. Reason was, I am a pasta lover and particularly Carbonara. So I am worried if this is gonna ruin my day. But heck, it's really good. Thick creamy sauce with chunk of chicken. We ordered a second for this pasta. Definitely a good one.

Vegetable Stir-Fried Spaghetti
We were contemplating whether to ordered this as it was vegetable stir fried. But what the heck, it's the last pasta in the menu. Might as well give it a try. Well, it's not as bad as it look, but just alright. Not as bad as I thought it would be. My friend like the sauce as there were a lot of vegetables.

Chocolate Ice Cream
After the whole course of meal, the girl serve us with a cup of chocolate ice cream. Well this is some sort like the dessert for the day. Not refillable though. No it's not Hagen Dazs or Moven Pick but it's alright.

So how was the experience? Totally worth the money and the trip. We have a total of 12 plates of pasta with soups, salads, dessert and drinks. Most of the pasta are good and are freshly cook when we ordered. You would think that the size of the pasta would be small but surprisingly it is not. It's just like our normal plate of pasta just maybe slightly smaller but trust me it's good. I practically ate 4 plates of pasta today. What an achievement. We had all-you-can-eat-pasta at Italiannies before but not as good and affordable as this.

Didn't took too long for the dish to be ready too. Service was good and the ambiance was great. They serve wines, beer (Hoegaarden too) and liquor at night. Good scenery at night if you're dining in as it's facing the lake. There is another restaurant next to them called Shanook which offers the same promo but they don't have limitation on the number of pasta you could order per person and the price is just RM12.90. Gonna try that out next week and let you all know how it goes. (Rating: 4.0 out of 5.0)

Restaurant Mei Yin @ Sea Park

Me and my friends are looking for a place for dinner after our movie rendezvous at 1Utama. I had initially wanted to visit Kokopelli Traveler's Bistro but I am afraid that they we won't have enough time to enjoy our dinner once we had arrived. So I had recommended another restaurant further down the road. Since all of us had craving for Hokkien Noodle, so we the place I had recommended is Restaurant Mei Yen. It's located at Jalan 20/7 if I am not mistaken. It's just further down Kokopelli if you know where it is located.

Hokkien Noodle (3 Pax)
Since the place is famous for their Hokkien Noodle and it's our objective that night, so we had decided on 3 pax for the portion. As you can see, it's really black and not that wet. It's something which I like. Plenty of meat and also some squids too in the noodle. It's really nice and we all agreed on the dish. Or maybe we're just too hungry at that time. Nevertheless, we had this finish up clean. And their belacan tasted really nice too as mentioned by my friend but it's not spicy at all.

Layered Pork with Vermicelli (2 Pax)
This is another of their famous dish over at the place. The smallest portion was for 2 pax. As you can see there were a lot of pork on top of the noodle. But if you look carefully the pork are 80% fat and 20% lean. So if you can't take fat pork then better stay away. But you can always eat the noodle which was really nice and the scent and taste of pork was so strong and nice. That is if you like pork as much as I do.

Kam Heong (Sweet & Spicy) La La (2 Pax)
Yet another must order dish of the restaurant. This is their Sweet & Spicy clams but it's rather sweet than spicy for us. Plenty of gravy for the clams and most of the clams are clean and there are meat in them. This is in some places, you can only find a few clams with meat in them and half of them are empty. The taste of garlic are so strong. As you can see, there are a lot of garlic in the gravy. We all agreed that it would taste better if it's more spicier.

Overall the food are good and price are reasonable. Well that is why the place had so many loyal customers all this while. My first visit to this place would be 8 years ago maybe and it's been awhile since my last visit. As I visited Ah Wa or Damansara Hokkien Noodle more often these days. Other recommended dishes would be their Loh Mee, Dried Mee Hoon with Fresh Egg and Pork Soup. The damage for the night is RM38. I think it's definitely reasonable and we are all full that night. Left and continued for second round after that at Old Town. Again, it's not the location of the restaurant but the quality of the food. Although we're eating next to the drain but that is what make it so Malaysia. (Rating: 3.8 out of 5.0)

Yik Kee Restaurant @ TTDI

This was my first trip over to this restaurant which is located at the saw row as the famous Loh Shi Fun at Taman Tun. It's called Yik Kee and from what I saw inside, it's main branch is located at Gohtong Jaya, Genting Highlands. The famous place where you eat fresh patin fish, fresh prawns noodle, shark fins, Buddha Jump Over The Wall (sorry, don't know how to translate this but you know what I mean). So me and my boss went in and browsed through the menu and decided to go with their special lunch set for 3 person.

Soup of The Day
The soup of the day was the winter melon with chicken. It's fresh but nothing special bout it since it comes with the set. As usual, a good soup always warm up my tummy before a storm of more good food to come.

Steamed River Patin Fish with Superior Soya Sauce
We were quite eager to taste the fish as fresh river patin are quite pricey in the market. So how fresh and good this dish, are the main question. Portion was good for three person with sufficient portion as the fish isn't too skinny. It is considered fresh but I had better. But considering the place and all, it's quite good. Combined together with their superior sauce, nice.

Yik Kee Roast Duck
I can say that the portion wasn't that large but just enough for the three of us. It's not hard and not too tender but right in the middle. No special sauce is given for the duck. Skin isn't that crispy and the meat isn't that strong of a herbal taste. Just your normal plate of Roast Duck.

Fresh Water Prawns Fry Noodle
We didn't ordered any rice to go with all the dishes as we thought that the portion of noodle from this dish would suffice. From the first look, it isn't that much but when we start to eat all the dishes one by one, it's quite filling. The fresh water prawns is just like the name said, fresh and large. Noodle was just alright. Strong scent of the egg yolk in the noodle. Some sort like Mun Yee Mee that we normally eat with Fresh Prawns in this case.

Overall, we have a good filling meal. The whole meal isn't to say cheap as there were the Patin fish, Fresh Prawns and Roast Duck. The whole meal cost us RM118++ and when you add tit bits and tea into the bill, it adds up to RM131. Expensive? Maybe. But it's claimable, so I guess it's alright with me. Their shark fin will dry you up around RM98/portion while the Buddha Over The Wall cost around RM70 - RM80. (Rating: 3.8 out of 5.0)

Tony Roma's @ Cineleisure

Tony Roma's, the place where you can find the best ribs in town. Well that is not the story for the one in Malaysia. Cause the best ribs should be served with Pork. But since they wanna make it Halal in our country, hence beef ribs are only available. But that didn't stop me from going to Singapore to have a taste of their pork ribs few years back. The succulent red sauce from the full racks of pork ribs are too delicious to describe. Well enough of imagining and let's get back to reality. This is my, hmm ... totally forgot how many times had I visited this place but let's say well enough.

Onion Loaf - RM16.90 (Full)
Decided to give it another try as I had a bad experience previously. Well, the outlook had changed a bit and the taste had improved slightly but still not to my satisfactory. I had better from Singapore and the one at Pyramid. This used to be one of my favorite starter. Too starchy maybe.

Cheesy Burger - RM22.90
They don't name this fella Cheesy for nothing. It's a thick burger loaded with two different cheese, namely Cheddar and Swiss. The size of the patty was generous my friend didn't managed to finished it off. It comes with fries and on the side too. Not too bad.

BBQ 1/2 Chicken - RM29.90
This is practically half chicken basted in their Original barbecue sauce and charbroiled. I think there are nothing much to say bout the chicken here. But since my friend wanted to have chicken, this is the only choice other than the grilled ones. It come with fries and coleslaw at the side too.

Grill Salmon Pasta - RM39.90
The portion was really generous for the salmon and also pasta. But then again we're paying close to RM40 for the dish. Heard that the salmon was nicely done and the pasta tasted quite alright too.

Chicken Tuscany Pasta - RM27.90
This pasta was really large. Babe was really surprised how large it was. It's grilled chicken breast tossed with a light Pomodoro tomato sauce, onions, red and green bell peppers, sun dried tomato pesto and mushrooms. Yes, there are that much of ingredients in there. Served over linguine and topped with Ramano cheese and some fresh basil. Sauce was really strong and pasta was not too over cook. Nice if you like tomato based sauce.

Grill Cod Fish with Rice & Broccoli - RM39.90
Damn the Cod fish was large. They were so generous on the portion. Well since we're paying RM39 and there's just some rice and broccoli, I guess it's logical.

Fillet Mignon - RM53.90
My friend had ordered medium well but it was quite raw. There's still blood oozing out from the red when it's cut in between. But they happily took the red in and recook it again. The meat was done well when it came out. Service was good. A bit dry after the second grilling on the red but you can always pour some BBQ sauce onto it.

Ribeye - RM53.90
This too was too raw for my friend and was recook. From what I heard from my friend, it was slightly dry hence she poured a lot of sauce onto her dish. Not sure how it tasted though since she like adding Tabasco sauce onto everything she eat.

Rib Combo Dinner - RM55.90
I was deciding either to order their bountiful ribs or combo and at the end I had ordered the latter. As I can taste both the ribs and also steaks together. Ribs are smaller compared to the one I had previously if I am not mistaken. It was a bit dry but the beef was not hard luckily. Not much sauce though. Ordered medium raw but still a bit hard to cut through the red. A filling dinner is what I can say.

Overall the dinner was alright. Not what expected but still acceptable. Food was cook a bit raw but they took it in and redo it for us. Service was good. The place was pack that night during our dinner. But I still like my ribs to be pork rather than beef if possible. Do order some bottomless juices so you don't have to fork out too much money on the drinks. (Rating: 3.8 out of 5.0)
