Pommes Frites @ Sunway Pyramid

Was walking around Asia Avenue looking for a place to have some light snack when we come across this place. It's called Pommes Frites. The place served mostly fries and mussels as their main. What differs their fries from the one we had at the other places? Well for one, they use fresh premium bintje potatoes directly imported in from Belgium.

Saw the banner that they are having this promotion on their fries and thought of giving it a try. I had asked for the recommendation and the guy was really nice to ask what is my taste preference rather then just recommend me their best seller. I had asked for salty plus spicy and he had recommended this. It's their fries with Cheddar Cheese dipping. It's basically cream sauce mixed with cheddar cheese and spices. (RM5/set)

This is the second recommendation from them which is called Samurai. It's sambal oelek, egg yolks, olive oil and seasoning mixed together. All their dipping are home made, so you can't find it outside. The dipping was really nice and you can really taste a tit of spice and also olive in it. Sadly it was so little. (RM5/set)

I heard that their potatoes are cooked twice with the second time cooking provides a golden color and makes the fries deliciously crisp. Other than the two dipping which I had ordered, they have more than 10 more dipping in store. The fries to me isn't that much different but maybe the texture and the fullness of the fries which differentiate the American to theirs. Well it's definitely a nice place to hang out and have some light snacks if you're into fries. (Rating: 3.5 out of 5.0)

Choong Kee Kampar Claypot Rice @ Damansara Jaya

I had waited so long for Irene to re-open his stall again for business for so long. Choong Kee was previously located in one of the stall inside Koon Kee Restaurant. The new Restaurant Choong Kee is located at the same row as the old one.

I had ordered their Groundnut with Pork Rib soup for starter. I think their favorite soup would be Old Cucumber with Pork Rib as it was already sold out when we arrived. Not the best soup I had but definitely above average soup. RM5.00/pot

I had ordered their Claypot Chicken Rice for 2 pax. I had also asked for additional Salted Fish and also Sausages. Maybe not as good as I had previously but still an above average chicken rice. I don't really fancy claypot chicken rice that much but this really change my opinion on them. RM13 + RM2 for additional salted fish and sausages

The place was packed when we arrived. Although the seats and table had double or even triple the previous stall, but it's all full. So you bet that you require to wait for at least 10 - 15 minutes for your chicken rice to come. So I reckon for you to call in to make your reservation and also order some soup to drink while waiting for the main dish. Rating: 4.0 out of 5.0

Frame Cafe @ TTDI

This is the first time I heard about this place. It's called Frame Reminisce which is located at TTDI. If you know where is Bamboo, then you should know this new hang out place.

For starter we had ordered Deep Fried Calamari. Portion was just alright and it's freshly fried so it's very crunchy. Just the way I like it.

This is the Honey Prawns which to me looks like one of those dish from some dim sum shop. To me as long as it's crunchy and juicy, it would be alright. RM7.90

They even served some local tit bits such as this Keropok Leko. Yes, it's so crunchy and taste so nice.

This is definitely one of my favorite tit bits which is Fried Wedges. Portion was really generous for this bowl of wedges. RM9.90

This is their watermelon with longan drink. Very soothing and nice.

This is the Ox Tail Soup which come with some bread. The taste of the soup was thick and a strong scent of ox in it. Not bad.

This is one of their recommended dish which was their House Chicken. It's grilled bone-less chicken leg served with carrot gratin and whole lots of cheese and fries. Cheese plus tomato sauce is really nice. RM21.90

This is the Pan Fried Salmon which is high in protein and omega 3 and fatty acid. So this is definitely a healthy and delicious meal to eat. The dish is served with their signature gratin, corn on the cob and baby carrots. Salmon was really fresh and tender. RM26.90

Beef Cheese Burger served with salad and fries. This is really a big meal and the fries come with a large portion too. It's a half pound burger with fresh onions, tomatoes, lettuce and pineapple. You can choose between juicy beef or deep fried chicken leg for this burger. RM21.90

Pasta Diablo which is fresh seafood sauteed with coriander and olive oil tossed over with fiery spaghetti. It's not too oily and not too spicy and the prawns were really big and juicy too. Not a bad dish if you like pasta with fresh seafood. RM19.90

This is their Mushroom Mascapone which is assorted mushrooms in mascarpone cheese with spaghetti. Looks really good but tasted too salty to me. Maybe it's because of the mushrooms and also some bits of almond. RM20.90

This is the Ox Tail Noodle which is rice vermicelli in their ox tail soup. According to my babe, this dish is really delicious and there is plenty of beef slices to go with the noodle. So if you like ox tail, this is your dish. RM14.90

Last but not least, this is one of their Sandwich which come with whole lots of cheese and mushroom. The best part was that it is served with wedges on the side. Truely a mouth watering dish to eat. RM23.90

Overall the place had the ambiance and also the food to go with it. Definitely be going back for second with my babe either for lunch or dinner. It's a good place to hang out with friends as it's very cozy and the decoration is really bright and neat. Price of the food, well quite resonable I guess. You have choices from local food to western to pasta and sandwitches too. Not bad at all. (Rating: 3.8 out of 5.0)

Ruenmai-Thai Restaurant - Krabi Town

This is one of the best seafood place in town, or so I heard. I was amazed with the entrance and the whole ambiance of the whole restaurant when I first set eye on it. It's located nearby the Krabi town. I think most of the taxis or tut tut know bout this place when you tell them the restaurant's name.

We arrived around 7pm and the place was already half full. You can opt to sit under the hut or outdoor. We had choose to sit under the hut as we know that we're gonna be very noisy and don't wanna disturb the other visitors.

This is their local fruit punch. It's filled with watermelon and sodas.

This is one of their curry fish is very famous over there. Actually they mix up our order but this dish wasn't that bad.

This is quick fried morning glory vegetable with oyster sauce. Although it's a normal dish but it's really like home cook meal.

This is one of the 'must' order for this place. This is their Fried Pork with garlic. This dish was so damn nice and delicious. Trust me, this is a MUST order.

This is another must order from the restaurant, which is their crab meat curry. It's not spicy don't worry but just nice.

This is a dish which we order last minute as we wanted some chicken in our menu. So here's the chicken cooked with onion and cashewnut.

Last but not least, we had ordered Seafood Fried Rice to go with all the other dishes. This is the 2nd time we ordered the same dish from two separate restaurant. Both was really good. I think for them this dish is like salted fish fried rice for us over here.

So how much did we paid for the whole meal for 7 pax? Total bill was around 1460Bhat. So it's around RM20/head. Yes it was really that cheap. We have fish, crab meat, chicken and pork and a whole big load of fried rice. If we do not include the water, actually it's just around RM15/head. The food tastes good and the price is affordable. Definitely a must go. (Rating: 4.0 out of 5.0)

Pick n Brew (3rd Visit) @ Shah Alam

I was having lunch with a friend this afternoon at Pick n Brew again and I saw they are having this new set lunch displayed on the table. So I had ordered one of the set. This is the Prawn Aglio pasta. Enough spices and olive olive and the pasta isn't that soft but just nice to bite into. But I rather have a Spicy Aglio Oleo anytime. But still this is a good plate of pasta to have on a lunch. Portion was quite generous for the price. (RM15.00/Set)

My friend had ordered the Nasi Kerabu. I think I had post a blog bout this dish before. The rice was filled with herbs and spices which is good but sadly it's too dry. They used peanut gravy ala satey sauce for the topping on the chicken. Chicken was tender and nice. It come with Acar on the side but I am not so into it. (RM17.00)

This is the Blackcurrant Soda which I think it's blackcurrant syrup added into soda water. Don't get me wrong, I like this drink. Blackcurrant with gas, nice.

My friend had ordered the Hot Chocolate for her drink. It's nice and warm. Together with the ambiance over at the cafe, it's very soothing. The crowd started to come in after 1pm. The place was pack when we left. Business was really that good. (RM9.00)

Overall, other than the Nasi Kerabu, I am very satisfied with the meal I had. What they served other than the Prawn Aglio? Well they have Meatball Pasta, Scampi and Vongole with Basil & Tomato and Penne Arabiatta. All the set meal come with their soup of the day and blackcurrant soda. So if you're looking for a good place to sit back and have lunch with good coffee to drink, this would be one of the place. (Rating: 3.8 out of 5.0)

Jalan Macalister @ Penang Island

The last stop for my makan trip up North would be the famous night spot along Jalan Macalister. I was afraid that no one would believe the name of the street so here it is, Lorong Baru.

It was raining when we arrived that night. So it was a bit troublesome to walk around holding our umbrella while checking up all the stalls. So what did I ordered that night? What else?

Lobak. I will not miss a chance on ordering this. Well actually my friend ordered this so I just wallop only. Not bad.

Found one of the stall selling Fried Oyster. Good news, oyster is large and a lot. But still a bit too starchy for me. But it's juicy and fresh though.

This is the Char Keuy Kak from the same stall as the Fried Oyster. I am not into this but according to my friends, it's damn good. They even ordered another two plates after the first.

This would be my forth and last plate of Char Kuey Teow in town. What is the different you ask. Well this time around, I had ordered Char Kuey Teow with Duck Egg. What's the different in taste? Nothing much. Just another plate of Char Kuey Teow. And I was hoping for something special. Disappointed again.

Actually we didn't just ordered fried chicken wings and liver, but Fried Chicken Skin but I didn't snap a picture of it. Couldn't resist not ordering this dish as I didn't see anyone selling it in KL. Not too bad if you like to eat those skins on KFC.

According to my friend, Macalister sells the best Fried Intestine Satey in town. Yes, this is definitely better than the first we had at Gurney Drive. We even managed to con a friend of ours to have one saying that it's chicken meat. Damn that was one funny sight.

Jalan Eng Kwee @ Penang Island

I am not too sure about the location of this shop too but I guess it's along Jalan Eng Kwee if I am not mistaken. It's famous for their Char Kuey Teow and also Cendol. I think this is gonna be my 3rd plate of Char Kuey Teow of the trip. Place was small and pack but luckily found a table to sit.

Walk over to the Char Kuey Teow Stall and order, and the guy give me a heads up as there is still 20 plates before mine. Since I am really looking forward to try this so I decided to wait and so did my other friends. Saw the lady cooking non stop the whole time and till one time, they ran out of kuey teow and calling it a day. Yes, business was really that good for them.

So here is my plate of Char Kuey Teow #3. Outlook is the best I saw from all the stall but I couldn't say the same bout the taste though. Taste was plain and nothing special. Was totally disappointed again. Has Penang's Char Kuey Teow really drop that much of it's quality?

Since I am waiting for my Char Kuey Teow, I had decided to order some side dishes to eat to ease my hungriness. Saw an old lady selling lobak. Yes, that is what I wanted to eat. Not too filling but just nice. Not much choices so I just choose the lobak.

Well I guess you can't really go wrong with Lobak. As long as it's hot and juicy, it's OK with me. But still they need to control the fire so that it won't over cook it.

To cleanse my thirst I had ordered their Cendol which I heard was superb. Or so I heard. People were queuing up to buy the drink. So I assume it would be true.

In came my cendol and I realized that we need to pay an extra 50 cents if you order in the cendol. There is two stall over there and the old lady serving drink will tell you that it's the same but trust me, it's not. Well that is what I heard from my friend at least.

Some of my friends decided to try out their Asam Laksa. Nothing much to brag about here. Just your typical Asam Laksa. And yes, I am not an Asam Laksa fans too. So don't expect me giving reviews on them in the future. :P

Overall the place was totally over rated and I am still not sure what is the buzz is all about. Char Kuey Teow was disappointing but people are still queueing up to take away and it was sold off even before dinner time. Weird~!
