6 to 10 Grill @ Happy Mansion

So sorry for the late posting of some visits I had with my makan kakis. As you all know, I am busy with moving over to Puchong from PJ. So a lot of stuff to tidy up and arrange in the process. Pictures had been uploaded up to the blog but didn't have time to blog bout it. So anyway, here's one of the flogger's choice which I noticed is particular interesting. It's called 6 to 10 Grill which is located at Section 17, Happy Mansion. It's located opposite Food Foundry. Anyway, I heard it was nice and it served pork. Yummy!!!

Chicken & Mushroom Soup - RM4/bowl
For starter as always, I had ordered their Mushroom Soup to warm up my tummy. It was quite normal but there were a lot of sliced mushroom and tiny bits of chicken in it. Creamy type which I like. Portion was small but accommodating depending on individual.

Grilled Chicken Chop with Black Pepper Sauce - RM9.50
You can choose between breast or boneless thigh. It come with two side dishes, french fries and mixed beans. I heard from my friend that the black pepper sauce isn't that strong but the chicken was nicely grilled though.

Grilled Pork Chop with Pineapple Sauce - RM12.90
I'd come for pork and pork I had ordered. This is one of their recommended dish which come with pineapple sauce. I think it's sweet and sour type of sauce. The pork was alright and not too dried up and hard. Portion was moderate but filling.

Other than steaks they do serve local delights like their Nasi Lemal Special which I heard was nice. Other recommendation will be their Red Wine Lamb Special, Red Wine Pork Ribs, New Zealand Grill Lamb Chop and more. They open for lunch and dinner from 6pm to 10.30pm daily and close every Monday & Tuesday. Be early as there are always swarms of customers during lunch hour. (Rating: 3.8 out of 5.0)

Din Tai Fung @ The Gardens

It was lunch hour and everywhere was packed with people rushing to have a quick bite. Was deciding between Chinoz or Itallianies when I finally remembered a place which I'd always wanted to visit, Din Tai Fung. I'd read some where online that this Taiwan based restaurant was once voted by New York Times to be one of the Top 10 Best Restaurant in The World. This I had to try for myself. Queue was short but need to wait for the table to be cleared before entering. The place was pack as always even during weekdays, this should be a good sign.

Spring Rolls
Had ordered some spring rolls to warm up our tummy before the main. It was freshly (hot) prepared and the ingredients are mostly vegetables. Nothing special but a normal spring roll for you.

Siew Loong Bao with Crab Meat
They have so much variety of dumpling in the house. One that grabbed my eye was their siew loong bao with shark meat (I am not mistaken). But we had ordered the one with crab meat. Let's say I prefer my bao to be purely pork. The soup in the bao wasn't that strong compared to the one I had at Dragon-I. But maybe it's mixed with seafood? You can mix and match with all the dumpling they have in the menu which is a good thing.

Pork Chop with Fried Rice
Since I am very hungry that afternoon, I had ordered something filling. Hence the pork chop and also fried rice. To me, nothing beats fried pork with fried rice. There's meat and rice. Fried rice was a bit flat so I had added a lot of their chili paste to go with the rice. Portion was generous though even for the pork. It was hot and crispy which is really nice.

Water Dumpling with Noodle Soup
The dumplings are a lot and the size was alright. But the soup was a bit plain again. I am not sure why, but some of their food here are a bit plain to me. But different people do have different taste buds. This is a good meal for those who wanted something fresh and not too strong I guess.

Overall, the food was alright. But to be Top 10 in the world? Well maybe I am missing something out here. I heard from friends that anyone who visit Taiwan should drop by to their restaurant as you won't regret doing so. (Rating: 3.8 out of 5.0)

Pasta Zanmai (September Special) @ 1Utama

If you had been following my blog, you should have guess that I am totally in love with this restaurant. It's Pasta Zanmai at 1Utama. I think I had visited this outlet more than 6 times this year alone. Reason was that the idea of fusing Japanese Cuisine & Italian Pasta together sounds so delicious. I can say that either you love it or hate it period. For me it's the first as you can see. So what's new? They have this September Special on their menu. So I had decided to try some out.

Mini Teriyaki Chicken Pasta
Portion wasn't that large but it's quite simple. The teriyaki or grilled chicken was really juicy and tasted really nice. The fresh egg on top of the chicken will mix together with the pasta underneath. Taste was a bit plain but the chicken was good.

Mini Scallop Pizza - RM22
Totally love their pizza in the restaurant. This is my second dish. What? Another dish? Yes, that is the September Special is all about. The dish isn't that large but you can try both this dish for the price of one. The pizza is super crispy and the sauce and scallop was really delicious. Mix that with some thousand island sauce on top and it's perfect. Totally love this dish.

Mini Vegetable Soup Pasta
This is their another mini set which consist of this soup pasta and katsu curry rice. The portion was moderate but accommodating. Remember there are two main dish with this set. The soup was really refreshing together with the crab stick, egg plant, mushrooms and some lettuces. Nothing spectacular but just a refreshing vegetable soup pasta.

Mini Chicken Katsu Curry Rice - RM22
This is the second dish together with the soup pasta. I was really taken aback from the portion of the dish. It was really generous and trust me it's really filling at the end of the dish. Their curry was really tasty but not too powdery like the one I had from Genki Sushi. The chicken was freshly fried but a bit oily though but then again it's crispy. This combo are really filling.

For their September Special, they also offer Mini Grilled Chicken Spicy Pasta & California Tortilla Roll, Mini Fried Prawn Sesame Sauce Pasta w& Mini Roasted Eel Rice & Miso Soup, Mini Salmon & Salmon Roe Pasta with Mini Grilled Beef Rice & Miso Soup. All of the mini sets cost the same, RM22. Their dessert of the month would be their Crepe with Mango Ice Cream & Fresh Mango (RM8). I am waiting what are they gonna offer for the month of October and am looking forward to it. (Rating: 4.0 out of 5.0)

Langat Fishing Seafood @ Hulu Langat

This is my second visit to this restaurant. This is definitely not an easy place to locate. It's located at Pekan Hulu Langat. You have to travel a short distance of jungle like trail before reaching the restaurant. But once arrive you can see a lot of big luxury cars park in front of the restaurant every night. The restaurant is called Langat Seafood & Beer Garden. They are famous with serving fresh seafood everyday. Walk in the entrance and you will see pictures of recommended dishes on the wall with some other pictures of famous celebrities who visited the place.

Herbal Chicken - RM28/half chicken
This is one of the recommended dish of the place. It's basically their version of herbal chicken wrapped in paper. Damn the chicken was so soft and tender with the soup being so tasty and all. This has to be one of the best herbal chicken I had. We had half a chicken that night. And it was large. Totally love this dish. We asked for a large spoon to finish off the soup at the end.

Sliced Fish in Kong Pow - RM38
I am not sure how to translate the name but it's called Sang Yue in Chinese. They have this special fish that night and the lady recommended it to us. Portion was really large but most important the fish were really fresh and soft. There are dried chilies, cashew nut, onions and capsicum. You might think it's a bit steep for the dish but it's really worth every penny of it.

Special Bean-Curd - RM10
The portion wasn't that much actually. As what other restaurant did on their house bean curd, this is too the same. They blend other bean curd and ingredients together and cooked it together. Nothing special here. But for the price, it's quite cheap though.

Paku in Belancan - RM10
This is one of their famous vegetable in the restaurant too. But it was a bit disappointing to us. The vegetable was alright but the dried prawns was too little to accommodate with the generous amount of belacan and vegetable.

At the end of the dinner, the place was packed by customers. The food was definitely worth the journey for me. Other than what I'd ordered on top, they are also famous for their fish head, pork knuckle and frog (tin kai). But mostly are fresh fish. Try to order some other vegetable and bean curd from the one I had ordered as it's not really that good as said. Definitely be going back some day with my family most probably as it's too far to bring my friends. I think they go crazy when I tell them how far it is. But for me, there are no far places where I won't go for good food. (Rating: 4.0 out of 5.0)

Alexis Kitchen & Bar @ The Gardens

It's been a while since my last visit to Alexis but this was my first dinner at their outlet in The Gardens. It was pre-booked by one of our friends from the gym for one of our friend's birthday. So I took this opportunity to check out their food if there is any improvement since my last visit.

Soup of The Day - RM 15/bowl
Their soup of the day was supposed to be tomato but what I was served instead taste and look a lot like pumpkin. Other than that, the soup was really nice as it's creamy and not too thick. Sprinkle a bit of pepper on it and dip a slice of garlic bread and it's perfect. Portion was generous and I would recommend this for those who like pumpkin only. It's hot and it's fresh. Nice~

Saigon Spring Rolls - RM19/set
It's actually chicken & prawn & fungus served with chili dips. It was recommended by one of our friend. Actually it's not that bad. Freshly fried but a bit oily though.

Tomato Bruschetta - RM17/set
I give a 4 out of 5 for the presentation. Totally love the way this bruschetta is being served. But it's not always about looks now, is it? Taste wise, well it's alright. Nothing spectacular as it's looks. But still a decent starter for you to jump start your taste bud before the main course.

Light Deep Fried Calamari Rings - RM17/set
This is one of my favorite side dish, which is the fried calamari. Who doesn't like fried calamari. Portion was just moderate but it's really nice to warm up your tummy.

Duck Confit - RM26
This is yet another starter we ordered. The duck is crispy on the outside and being served with roasted pear salad. The taste is really strong on the duck. Not bad for a starter. Portion is moderate but justifiable with the price you're paying.

Angelhair Aglio Olio - RM38/plate
It's angelhair aglio olio with grilled yabbies and extra virgin olive oil. It's plain simple but it's not bad if you add lots of pepper on it. It's one of the better one I taste in such long time. Nothing spectacular but average.

Sarawak Laksa - RM20/bowl
Was told that this is one of their famous or recommended dish of the place. Three of our friend ordered this dish with different comments. One being not able to finish it as it was that bad. So I can't comment much on this but you need to try it for yourself.

Chicken Escalope - RM35/plate
This is actually thyme infused fillet of chicken, rocket & roasted cherry tomato. First impression, Chicken Marryland. So you can expect the chicken would be very dry and you need lots of sauce (which they didn't provide) to finish this baby off.

Wagyu Beef Cheeks - RM48/plate
Here's my main which is their famous Wagyu beef cheeks braised in red wine with rocket gremolata & mash potato. Damn the beef cheeks are so soft and tender. It's practically melt in your mouth. The sauce was really good too as it's a mix of red wine. The mash on the side cleanse a bit of the wine taste before finishing off with some of the salad at the side. Definitely a good dish. Portion wasn't that much but it's Wagyu beef, so it's worth the money.

Spaghetti Seafood Parcel - RM38/plate
This is also one of their recommended dish which is baked tiger prawns, mussels, calamari & parsley spaghetti wrapped in a plastic bag. They will cooked the whole pasta and seafood being wrapped inside this bag and they will cut the top off when it's served to show it's freshness. So how it taste? Tasteless. A bit disappointed of the whole dish.

Steaks from the grills - Tenderloine - RM70/200grams
This had got to be one of the most expensive dish in the menu. It's their steaks which you can choose from rib eyes, t bone, sirloin or tenderloin. And it's being sold by the grams. But heck it's really thick and juicy. The sauce that they provided is a mixture of green and mustard I think. A truly filling meal. If that doesn't fill you up, then finish up the mash potato at the side.

Linguine Vongole - RM32/plate
One word, clams. Lots of them. It's clams cooked in chardonnay & sliced basil. Comparing to the previous seafood pasta, this has a very strong seafood taste. Strong enough to really taste the sea water I think. Not my plate of pasta. That is why I always say that seafood and pasta don't mix good together.

As for the dessert we ordered their famous Almond with Tiramisu cake. Damn this cake is such a sin. It's sweet but not too sweet. The almonds are crunchy and the peanuts sprinkle together with honey tasted really nice combining with the tiramisu in the cake. Pieces of chocolate being mix together in the cake is a good choice. No wonder it's one of their best seller in the house.

So what can I say bout this dinner? It's a mix experience actually. Some had nightmares, some had sweet dreams (like I did). Ambiance was great for dinning or light drinking. They served wine and beers too. We had our own section all by our own but I guess our noise shocked the whole restaurant that night. Definitely worth a try for those who haven't visited them before. The total damage that night was RM1,000 inclusive of everything. Not to say expensive I guess. As the food is good and the company is great. Quite hard to rate as the feeling are both good and bad altogether. (Rating: 3.8 out of 5.0)

CA Food Enterprise @ Sunway Mentari

I heard of Johor style Bak Kut Teh before in some TV shows previously but didn't had the chance to try it out. I had traveled down South for so many times and didn't once I had BKT over there. So funny that my first taste would be in Sunway. It's a new restaurant located at Sunway Mentari. This place is serving Johor style BKT which was recommended by my ex-colleague. It's lucky that me and my ex-colleagues had a lot in common in term of food.

Bak Kut Teh with Everything - RM8/pax
There were 10 of us so we had ordered 2 pots of this BKT. The soup as you can see is quite clear compared to the one we normally had over here. The one we had over here had strong thick soy sauce taste whereas theirs are more lighter and the taste is more strong but towards herbal side. The ribs are soft and the lean and fat layer of pork are very tender.

Lettuce - RM8/Large Plate
We had ordered some vegetable to go with the pork. As usual, some fried onions on top and soy sauce to add some taste.

Rice Wine Chicken - RM 8.50/small or RM 11.50/large
This is one of their famous dish over here. It's their Rice Wine Chicken. The ladies like this pot of chicken a lot. The chicken are really tender and get this, it's soft and juicy too. It's really rare to have such soft and tender chicken cooked in rice wine. Definitely a recommended dish.

Sesame Chicken - RM 8/small or RM 11/large
This is the second famous dish from their restaurant. This is my personal favorite too. The sesame sauce is smell so good and the chicken again is so tender and soft. The sauce isn't that thick that the sauce hides the taste of the chicken. But it's just right. This has got to be my favorite dish of the day.

Steamed Fish Head in Garlic - RM 18/small or RM20/large
I know it's weird to see these kind of dishes in a Bak Kut Teh restaurant but heck, it's nice eating something else other than pork. This fish head isn't that large but the garlic are plenty and get this, it's not that spicy as it looks. But the taste of garlic is really strong. Wondering if it's from the famous Bukit Tinggi hills. It was just alright for me as I am not so into fish head anyway.

The aftermath.
One thing we don't like bout the place was the size of the pot which the tea are being served. It's so darn small. They don't cater for large crowd maybe. So we need to order 2 pots of tea for the 10 of us. Other than that, it's alright. Service are considered good but again I think they should hire more workers in the future when the crowds are getting more.

This is where the Bak Kut Teh is being prepared and also the rice wine chicken. Still using the traditional charcoal, slow but the dish taste damn nice.

The place is still new so I think it needs time for people to get to know bout it. The total damage for the lunch come close to RM110 if I remembered it correctly. Please be reminded that we ordered 2 sets each of the dishes above (except the chicken). Sad thing is that, they don't serve dry Bak Kut Teh but they had compensated that with their Sesame Chicken which is really good. Definitely bringing my family over to have a taste of this restaurant during the weekends. (Rating: 4.0 out of 5.0)

Ah Or Pork Noodle @ Sunway Mentari

Just found a new pork noodle house at Sunway Mentari few days back. It was recommended to me by my ex-colleague. The shop is called Ah Or Chu Yuk Fun (a.k.a pork noodle). If you are familiar with the famous pork noodle stall opposite Careffour few years back, then this stall is no stranger to you. It's handled by the sisters from the same stall. The restaurant started operation not too long ago and already there were a lot of loyal customers visiting them.

The two sisters, comprising of the elder one handling the cashier and taking order while the other will be cooking the pork noodle. I had just realized that day that they do have dry pork noodle this time around. Other than pork noodle they also served Bak Kut Teh, stewed pork leg and chicken rice.

But mostly people would come ordering their famous Soup Pork Noodle. I had ordered a large portion for my lunch that day with fresh egg. You can opt for spare parts if you are into it. I had asked for extra fried lard too. Yummy~! Well it isn't as good as the brother who cook the noodle last time but it's close to it. The soup is sweet and nice with the scent of pork in them. Definitely worth a try if you haven't try it before. Although I am not a big fan of soup noodle but for this, I will make an exception. (Rating: 3.8 out of 5.0)

Hot Dog & Curry Puff @ IKEA & Friends

This is nothing new but I still wanna blog bout this place as I am really into their hot dogs and curry puff. I can still remembered my first curry puff over at Ikea when they just started. We would buy half a dozen or more and just feast on them the whole day. As you can see, even though it's Puasa period, but there are lots of people queuing up for their hot dog and curry puff.

Curry Puff (RM1/piece or RM5.50/6 pieces)
Their curry puff are soft and freshly baked from their oven behind the counter. So it's recommended to take it instantly. Well it's recommended to take any other curry puff instantly anyway. The potatoes inside are soft and juicy together with a small slice of egg. Not bad.

Hot Dog (RM2/piece)
When you bought their hot dog, don't be alarm when it's just the dog and the bun. Don't go running to the counter and ask what happened to the sauce and onions. Their buns are soft and their hot dog are hot (no pun intended) and you are really recommended to take it on the spot.

So where's the ingredient? Well there is a table next to the counter where you can add as much of onions or radish as much as you desires. As not all people wanted onions in their hot dog and wanted tomato sauce rather than chilly. So why make their life difficult? Might as well let us put whatever we like on our hot dog.

Sp this is what my hot dog looks like after the whole garnishing session. I like my hot dog to have a lot of everything. I am a bit pro by now on how to garnish and how much to sprinkle on them. Most of the people would greedily squeeze lots of sauce and onions on them and ended up making themselves difficult when consuming them up.

You can always opt for their set which consists of a refillable carbonated drink with a hot dog for only RM3. Drinks are refillable so it's normal that I share my drinks with my babe. They offer Pepsi, Pepsi Twist, Orange, Strawberry and 7-Up. You can also choose to have coffee which is also refillable for RM3/cup. Previously I would have some light snack before my gym class on Monday night. Queuing up for your food is only part of your worries as you will need to find a place to seat afterward. But again, you can always take away. (Rating: 3.8 out of 5.0)
