Bruno's Restaurant & Bar - Jaya 33

I had saw this place from Ho Chiak! last weekend and decided to take a trip down this weekend. So I had saved up my stomach for the whole day for this meal. Saw their famous Roast Pork Loin (Iberian Pork). So I had asked LP out and she was quite excited as I was (i think). So I picked her up from Subang and off we go to Jaya 33.

We arrived around 7.00pm and there were already quite a number of people in the restaurant. As we didn't make any reservation (and I thought I wouldn't need to), we have only two spot to choose. We had choose the one near to the entrance as it was really cold on the other one.

Babe had ordered a pot of Hot Earl Grey. Looks nice and decent. And of course, it's refillable. (RM8.00)

This is their Ice Lemon Tea. According to my friend, it's a bit weird in the beginning but tasted better at the end. (RM10.00)

I had ordered the same drink but they forgot mine. So I ordered Ice Chocolate. Which looks like Death By Ice Chocolate from Ms. Read and tasted like mamak's Ice Milo. But it's actually not bad at all. (RM10.00)

So for the Entree, I had ordered the Fried Iberian Pork Belly. The unique thing about Bruno’s, is their Iberian pork. The black Iberian Pig are allowed to roam in the oak forest and raised with a diet of grass, herbs, acorns, and roots. A few months before slaughtering, the animal is fed only acorns. As a result, higher level of oleic acid is found in the meat, which is supposed to be a good thing that lowers your bad cholesterol (LDL) while increasing the good HDL. (source from kyspeaks). (RM30 for the Pork Belly).

I was looking forward to taste their famous Roast Pork Loin which is stuffed with caramelised onions, chestnuts and diced sausages. It is served in garlic mash, fresh vegetables and cranberry dressing. But they were out of stock on the Iberian Pig. Sux~!

Since I am helping us all to order, and when I saw Cabonara was in the menu, I won't miss the chance to order it. Their Classic Cabonara is served with Ham and Fresh Egg. It's definitely different from the one that I had before. It's thick and creamy but not in the sense of cheese and cream. They had added some chilly spices and also fresh egg on top of the pasta. My first time seeing a fresh egg on my pasta. But we mix it around and the taste was really good. Really need to try this out. Highly recommended. (RM24.00)

Spanish cuisine without pork? How can I do that. So I had ordered their Grilled Pork Chop. The pork chop is tenderised, grilled and roasted in the oven with apples, mustard and bitter vinegar sauce. It is served with roasted baby potatoes and vegetable. The gravy or sauce is definitely a match with the pork chop. The pork chop was so tender too. Not over-cooked or too raw. Just nice. (RM38.00)

We have pork so we must have lamb too. So I had ordered their Rack of Lamb. The dish was served with Caesar potatoes (tasty) and fresh vegetables. The white sauce that you see on top is mint yogurt. This is one hell of a dish. The meat was so tender and the lamb is grilled to perfection. It is medium raw so you can still see a lil' bit of red in the meat. When you put it into your mouth you can still taste a bit of over grilled taste mix with the mint yogurt. Just nice : ) (RM45.00)

At this point, we're all quite full from all the meat that we had just ate. But the waitress came over and asked if we needed something else. I remembered that they are famous for one of their dessert, which is called Valrhona Chocolate Lava Cake with fruit compote and ice cream. My gosh~! It was really a sinful dish~! So rich on chocolate. Saw the muffin? It's hot and filled with dark chocolate and the whole plate will be filled with hot creamy chocolate once you had cut the muffin up. Mixing it together with the ice cold ice cream and strawberry, superb~! (RM20.00)

They mixed up the bill and charged me for a Lamb Cuttery for RM80.00 (which surprisingly this meal was not mentioned in the menu at all) but they did apologized and send my the revised bill. Other than this, the whole night was perfect. The service was good, the food was perfect, the ambiance was nice and the music was even soothing. Definitely returning for a second round. (Rating: 4.5 out of 5.0)

PS: an extra 0.5 rating for the extra good service : )

Restaurant Boston Baru - Klang City (2nd Visit)

This is my 2nd visit with my gym friends. The BKLTL members (MD, CP, BQ, LP and Romiko) had decided to return to this restaurant again as we love the food so much. We arrived around 7.30pm. Thanks CP again for arriving early to reserved a table for us. We had to wait for 1 hour for our food as usual.
1st dish that arrived is the Hokkien Mee. It's really delicious and best thing, there's a lot of fried pork oil (direct translation..haha~!) I think LP and me was the only person at the table who fancy that. We had ordered a 2 pax so we finished it in less than 2 mins. haha~! MD said that Ah Hwa Hokkien Mee is more better. We just had that yesterday night, is it that much of a different? I don't know. haha!! 2nd dish, Tapioca Starch Stick. We called it "Shu Fen Kang" in Hokkien. haha~! It's OK la, but since we're all a bunch of hungry wolves, so we clean the plate within minutes also. 3rd dish, Moon Light River (as called by CP) a.k.a Fried Kuey Teow with Fresh Egg. The best thing about the first 3 dishes that we ordered, had fried lard in it. Super~!!! The kuey teow was really nice but maybe a bit too oily. 4th dish, Deep Fried Butter Mantis Prawn with Nestum a.k.a Nai You Mai Pian Xia Gu. This is one of their famous dish. It's very crunchy and the scent of butter and nestum is very strong. I had to stop half way as it's really filling and quite high in cholesterol. haha~! Imagine eating a lot of planta, you will feel sick at some point. haha~! Same here!!! 5th dish, our only vegetable, Chinese Brussels Sprout a.k.a Choy Tam. Normal la, what can I say, it's vegetable. But too me, there's a lot of starch. Dish no.6 and this is the only dish which I didn't even care to taste or even try. It's their famous Steamed La La with Garlic a.k.a Shang Tang La La. From the reaction and feedback from others, it's really nice. But they had better the last time they were here. Whatever~! like I will taste it anyway. haha~!!! We're all full and had spend a long time digesting all the food. But we had a long chat while waiting. There are still a few more dishes which we wanted to try out on our next visit here. So what is the damage? You won't believe this, RM 66.80 for all inclusive of tea. My goodness, it's RM 11/head for all those food. I am not sure if there is a wrong calculation by the fella or what. But's our lucky night out if it is. (Rating : 4.3 out of 5.0)

Bumbu Bali - Bandar Puteri (2nd Visit)

Today's pre-dinner. Venue, Bandar Puteri's Bumbu Bali. Can't recall how many time I had patron this place. The place is a blend between Balinese and Thai decoration. The food is a fusion between authentic Balinese meets Western Style.
I had ordered their Ayam Bertutu. It's yellow rice served with roasted chicken with herbs. Delicious~! There are also some side dishes like, cucumbers, pineapples, kangkung, crispy balinese biscuit thingy and two type of chilies. The chicken's portion was really large. It's really a filling dinner. They also served Ayam Mengoreng and also Ayam Mempangang.

As for the drink, I had ordered my usual Bali Lime with Ice. It's quite different from the one that I had outside. Well maybe it's just me. haha~!!

The place is filled with a lot of balinese and thai decorations. But I don't think that they are selling all those stuff.

They also serve liquor and also house wine over at this place. Haven't tried any of the wine but some visitors did order them. So it should be nice. (Rating : 3.5 out of 5.0)

Guy's Night Out @ Tony Roma Sunway Pyramid

Since we're not invited to watch Kung Fu Panda tonight, we (MD, CP and Me) had decided to skipped gym and went out to treat ourselves. I had suggested Tony Roma as both of them haven't try at it before.
This is how the menu looks like~! hehe!!!
This is where we order the liquor~! kekeke~!!!
All of us took turns to introduce the place, but I am ready to feast my teeth into those juicy chickens. Yummy~!!!! I had recommended their starter which is the Tony's Sampler. It's a trio of appetizers consisting of Red Hot Buffalo Wings, Potato Skins and their signature Onion Loaf (my favourite!!) matched with Bleu cheese dressing, Ranch dressing and their house BBQ dipping sauce. Super~!!! The buffalo wings tasted like those in Chillies. Potato skins is a new thing which is not bad if you like potatoes. As for the Onion Loaf, do you still need to ask. CP had ordered the BBQ 1/2 Chicken. The chicken is basted in original sauce and charbroiled. Served with french fries and cole slaw. Too large for me, but CP did finished it at the end. (Price at RM 26.90)

MD wanted to try their burger so I had recommended their Roma Burger (which is also Tony's Recommendation). The burger is a real classic. The burger consists of cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, tomato slices, red onions and pickles. MD didn't managed to finish it. haha~!!! (Price at RM 20.90)

Well as for me, I had tried most of their steaks and beef ribs before hand. So I had decided to try their chicken this time around. I had ordered their Chicken Tenderlion Platter. The chicken is served with french fries, cole slaw and honey mustard. I was actually attracted by it's side dishes more than the main dish. kekeke~!!! I too can't finished it at the end. Too much meat~!!! (Price at RM 26.90)

It's our 1st BKLTL Guy's Night Out together. And we had already discussing where to go for our 2nd night out. haha~!!! The whole meal cost us RM 155.60. So it's around RM 50/head. This includes the bottomless ice lemon tea which we ordered. (Rating : 4.0 out of 5.0)

Restaurant Peng Heong Hakka Paikut - Klang City

It's a Saturday and I am taking my parents out for lunch. Well it's lunch cum Father Day for my beloved dad. So the location for the lunch, I had choose Peng Heong Hakka Paikut in Klang. It's highly recommended by MD and CP. The address is No.21,22,23,24, Jalan Cox, Batu Tiga Solok Baharu, 41200 Klang. The story goes back 30 years ago when he inherited the family's cooking secret from his grandfather. From there on, he started the first stall in Klang. His famous spare rib, is made up of 17 different flavours. The name "Spare Ribs King" is spread and well known everywhere. He had refined and introduced more new dishes until today.
So I had ordered their Spare Ribs which is so popular and famous all around. The meat base is tender, sweet upon entering the mouth. Not sticky and east to chew. Just the way it should be. And it's affordable too :)
The second dish was the Assam Fish. This is also one of their specialty dish. And it really is good. The taste is just right and the meat is also very tender and not too salty.
The third dish was the Pig Feel Vinegar. The gravy was OK but could be made more stronger. Well maybe different people have different taste anyway. There wasn't much meat to chew on. We should have ordered the leg rather than the paw. We couldn't just eat all meat now can we? So we ordered Steam Bean Sprout. As my mom said, eating Pai Kut with Bean Sprout is the best. OK la, it's normal bean sprout which we all eat at Hainan Chicken Stall. Not much to brag about. We had ordered additional 2 pax Spare Ribs at the end as it was really nice. haha!! And because my dad had ordered a second bowl of rice. Wow~! How rare~!!! haha!! The food was really nice I guess. The whole meal cost us RM 46.70. Affordable from my opinion. Happy Father Day~!!! I Love You Dad~!!!!

Restaurant Bak kut Teh Yap Chuan - Bkt Raja

It's a Friday and we all know what that means. No it's not Friday Prayer's Day. It's 2 hour lunch!!! Well that doesn't matter to me and MD as it's always Friday for us. haha~!!! So today we had decided to try out a Bak Kut Teh (BKT) place in Bukit Raja. Since today it's a Friday so we had invited a special guess, Carebear. Cool~!! Romiko joined in as she was around the area too. Sweet~!!!
The place is located opposite Windmill in Bukit Raja, which is the same row as Mayfair. It's a corner lot and the sign board is red so you can't really miss it. Parking is an arse. But I was lucky today and I got a parking near the restaurant on my first round. Lucky~!!!
So what did we ordered? Definitely Dry BKT. MD and me had decided to order 3 pax D-BKT and 2 pax Wet BKT. Trust me, we finished it all up and Romiko even had a second bowl of rice. The D-BKT is almost the same as the one in Tmn Sentosa but there's a lot of bones in it as we had ordered spare ribs mix together. I like the one with just the pork and nothing but the pork only. For the W-BKT, well not bad at all. Although I had almost given up on the W-BKT now days, but this shop did shed some hope back for me on W-BKT. Not bad at all. The soup is thick and nice. We didn't ordered spare parts as no one wanted it. So it's just the normal pork and tofu.
And not forgetting some green in our daily meal, we ordered a plate of Yau Mak. We had a long chat after the meal accompanied with my personal "Pu Er". The whole meal amounted to RM 54.50. Around RM14/head. Well not to say expensive I guess. (Rating : 4.0 out of 5.0)
PS : And why is it so weird eating my rice with thick soya sauce???!! or dipping it inside my chillies and garlic??!!!

Pun Chun Noodle House @ Kota Kemuning

Lunch today was boring as I was alone. Sigh~! But nevertheless, I will never let my appetite down because of this. Look at my watch and it's 12 noon. Should be alright. What does I mean by that? Well the place that I wanna go is always flocking with people around lunch hour. So I wanna plan my visit. The place I am referring to is, Pun Chun Noodle House in Kota Kemuning. For those who didn't know the name, well it's originally from Bidor. And they are famous for the duck drumstick noodle (dry and wet). I had wrote bout my visit to their Bidor branch in my previous blog entry. So I had ordered their duck drumstick dry noodle (those who know me, I don't eat wet noodle). The price is RM6.50 and the large was RM7.50. Boy it's expensive with the capital E.
The portion for the noodle was really "small" and it tasted like Indo mee. But it's springy~! hehe!! Quite nice.
The main attraction is the duck drumstick which is cooked inside a small bowl with a lot of Chinese herbs and spices. It's quite nice as you can drink all the soup which was boiled from early morning. So it is being heated up when you order it. It took around 10mins for the order to come although there is not much people.
What do I think? It won't be my favourite lunch places to patron. I will most probably intro to my friends who haven't try before. But won't strongly recommend it. As the price is too pricey for a over-rated noodle. (Rating : 3.5 out of 5.0)

Lunch @ Wendy's Sunway Pyramid

My car was giving me some problem this few days so I sent it back to the service centre and found out that the cable for the spark plug was broken. So changed it and this cost me RM99. Well at least now I can drive my car witout worries of it broken down (choi choi choi ... touch wood~!!!)
Went to Pyramid for lunch but I invited my partner in crime, MD to joined me. We are deciding whether to eat Wendy's or Carl's Jr. We walked pass Carl's Jr and saw there is only a small crowd of people eating inside. Plus the price is around RM20 for an average meal. Too pricey for my lunch.
So we walked over Wendy's which was just a few stores away. Boy the queue was long. And the place was 90% full. So we queued up and ordered our food.
I had ordered their 1/2 pounder beef burger which come with a regular fries and also soft drink. The burger come with a double beef and a single slice of cheese in between. Nice~~~~!!! There is also the 3/4 pounder which consists of 3 slices of beef and 2 slices of cheese. (can't imagine how people gonna eat that~!!)
The price for the 1/2 pounder is RM 14.15 plus the drinks (inclusive of tax).
MD had ordered the Spicy Chicken Sensation as he doesn't want to eat beef. It was nice according to him. Both of us was so full that we can't move at the beginning. But we managed to move our butts up and walk around before we left. (Rating : 7.5 out of 10.0)
